Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNaF)
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a popular indie horror game series. The game series is designed and published by Scott Cawthon. FNaF was released for Windows, iOS, Android, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. Later on, it was also released for various virtual reality platforms.
The series starts with a fictional Pizza restaurant, i.e. Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The player plays as a nighttime security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. He controls a set of cameras that he must properly put to work.
He is also given some other tools to survive against a bunch of monsters. In the first few minutes, they won’t even move. But as time passes, they will become mobile, and horrifying. The game changed its theme after the fourth installment in the series. Instead of a restaurant, the game takes place in other locations. There is a total of 7 FNaF games released yet.
Minecraft
Minecraft is an incredibly popular game created by Mojang Studios. It is one of the most loved games among the gaming community. Minecraft officially releases on mainstream platforms like Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation. Following the huge success of the game, an Android and iOS port were soon made available.
Before starting the game, a player has the option to join a server, or create his own world. He is also given the option of playing the game in Multi-player or Single-player mode. After choosing any of these options, the player starts with basically nothing but a brick. He must use this brick to gather essential resources like wood, dirt, etc.
He will gradually progress as he uses these resources to craft items. The main goal here for the player is to survive for as long as he can.
Five Nights at Freddy’s vs Minecraft
Comparing Five Nights at Freddy’s vs Minecraft, following are some main aspects of both these games:
- Gameplay
Both FnaF and Minecraft feature completely different gameplay. The only similarity between the two is the main objective which is to survive. However, both these games do it completely differently. FNaF is a horror-themed video game, whereas Minecraft is a sandbox game.
In FNaf, the player has to keep an eye on the cams he is given and utilize a battery. If a monster is approaching close, he needs to close the respected door. Closing it for too long will quickly drain the battery.
Minecraft also features hostile mobs but they are much more forgiving compared to the monsters in FnaF. Players need to build defenses, prevent starvation and craft gear to protect themselves.
- Playability
FNaF is a very short game compared to Minecraft. As a result, Five Nights at Freddy’s does not offer much playability to their players. The series compensates for this with regular releases. Five Nights at Freddy’s series consists of 7 different games right now. Their latest release was in 2019 which is quite recent.
Minecraft is an individual video game. However, Minecraft has plenty of exploration. Players can give in hundreds of hours before getting bored. Minecraft has a lot more playability compared to Five Nights at Freddy’s. Minecraft also features Multi-player which adds in more fun. Multi-player games always have way more playability than Single-player games.
- Interaction
In a video game, a player’s interaction is very important. Five Nights at Freddy’s requires the player to interact with various tools, cameras, and doors to stay safe. The player’s survival depends on how he will interact with these items.
Minecraft offers plenty of interaction with its unique world. Players interact with various mobs (entities), tools, items, structures, and more. Some of these mobs offer help to the player by trading. But during the night, hostile mobs also spawn. They will hurt the player if he gets too close to them.
Both games require the player to have basic interaction with everything at his disposal.
