Most of the rogue outlaw mains are confused about whether they should be using Slice and Dice or Roll the Bones. If you are just looking for the big numbers on your damage meter then Slice and Dice might not be the best option for you. But if you like the playstyle with Slice and Dice you should go for it. You might not get invited for raiding most of the time but it is best to stick to what you enjoy the most.
Overall Slice and Dice is a DPS loss, even though players might say that Roll the Bones is too dependent on RNG but the thing is about 90 percent of the buffs you pull from Roll the Bones pull your DPS far ahead of Slice and Dice. So, you are in a way crippling yourself of all that extra damage you can realize by choosing Slice and Dice.
The only good thing that Slice and Dice bring to the table is consistency. There is no RNG involved, as long as you’re performing your rotations efficiently you will be doing around the same amount of damage. While with roll the bones your DPS can vary depending upon the roles you are getting. Slice and Dice can prove to be variable like in quick dungeons but for raids, you should most definitely use Roll the Bones.
Roll the Bones
This spell can give you one, two, or five buffs depending upon your RNG. People prefer to get Ruthless precision or Grand Melee but it all comes down to your luck. There are a few re-roll patterns you can follow to maximize your chances of getting these buffs. Even getting one of the buffs provided by Roll the Bones helps you outperform Slice and Dice unless it is True bearing.
You can deal some insane amount of damage if you are lucky enough to get good buffs on every roll. However, Roll the Bones can bring a lot of variance in the amount of damage you deal in every raid. Overall, it will still consistently be performing better than Slice and Dice. Some people do not like the RNG aspect of it but when you look at the math, you will notice that sometimes Roll the bones will be outperforming Slice and Dice even on one buff.
Roll the Bones requires you to know what buff you want to keep to maximize your damage potential. If you are not aware of what buffs would work and want to play the game casually then Slice and Dice might prove to be the better option for you.
