World of Warcraft has been around for almost two decades now, and it shows no signs of stepping down as one of the most popular multiplayer games around. Even today it is played by thousands of players at any given moment. You’ll find that the game is lively and all the realms are filled with players almost all the time. A major reason why World of Warcraft’s immense popularity has stood over the years is all the expansions that have been released over the years. One of the first out of these expansions was WoW Cataclysm, which also introduced the Molten Core raid and the Ragnaros boss fight.
Who is Ragnaros in WoW?
The popular antagonist is one of the main bosses of the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion, and also a pretty memorable boss fight in general out of all those in the game. Its build-up and the entire concept was pretty nice, and so was the final battle with Ragnaros himself. The fight and Molten Core itself are still available to play even today, almost exactly as they were over a decade ago at release.
Reasons Why Ragnaros is Not Spawning in WoW
Some players today and even back then have encountered a common dilemma with the raid. This dilemma is that sometimes Ragnaros doesn’t spawn, meaning players can’t beat him and get done with the mission. Here’s why this happens.
- The Previous Bosses Weren’t Killed
As with most of the raids that have been released in WoW, Molten Core also had several different boss fights which had to be completed before the final boss could finally spawn and be fought. In this case, the final boss in Ragnaros, and he won’t spawn until you’ve taken care of some other major enemies in the raid. Make sure you’ve killed every single mandatory boss before him so that he can finally spawn.
This list of mandatory bosses is given on official WoW pages which you can check out online through your browser. The list sometimes has changes made to it every now and then, which is why you should consider checking out the most updated version right away before you get back to the raid in hopes of getting Ragnaros to spawn.
- Changing Difficulty
Another common reason for this problem which was the case several years ago and even today is even players change the difficulty while in the middle of the raid. If you beat all of the previously mentioned bosses that come before Ragnaros on normal difficulty but try to engage in combat with him on heroic difficulty, he won’t show up.
That means you have to take care of every single boss once again on heroic difficulty by restarting the raid so that the heroic difficulty Ragnaros can show up. You could also just switch back to the difficulty in which you beat all the other bosses so that he spawns. However, if players already beat some bosses on one difficulty and others on a different one, they’ll definitely have to restart the raid.
