Minecraft Melons Not Growing
The first and most common reason behind melons not growing in Minecraft is that players simply don’t give them enough room to do so. There actually needs to be another patch of dirt next to each melon that you try to grow in the game, as they don’t directly grow on the block where you planted them. Even then, they might not grow every single time you plant one. This is why it is recommended that you keep more than one block of dirt next to each melon so that there’s a higher chance of them growing.
You’ll also have to keep in mind that they need space from above too. If you place another block directly above where you planted your melon, it won’t be able to grow as it simply won’t have enough room to do so. This is why it is recommended that you make sure there’s a considerable amount of space between the block where you planted your melon and any other blocks that you want to put above. However, it’s not necessary that a lack of room to grow is the problem every single time.
While Minecraft is all about letting you roam wild with your imagination, the game tries its best to add some realism too. That being said, you’re going to have to make sure that your crops get enough light if you wish to make sure that they grow. The melons that you plant simply won’t grow if they don’t get enough light. The sunlight during the day in Minecraft is capable of helping you with this, but sometimes even that might be enough.
There’s also the option to produce light artificially with the help of torches or other materials which can provide the melons with the light they need even during night time. The advantage of using this artificial light is that you can also build a melon farm under the ground, but you’ll have to make sure that there’s considerable air space for the melons to properly grow in.
Once you make certain that you’ve done all these things mentioned above correctly, the melons that you planted should start growing now. Keep in mind to stay patient as well, as they don’t just suddenly grow as soon as you plant them and can take quite some time.
