The best thing about an MMORPG is that you get to choose which storyline you can follow. Such is the case with the world of warcraft. Around the end of the demon hunter questline, you are faced with a choice.
Who will be your second in command? Kayn Sunfury or Altruis the Sufferer.
Choosing either one of them will not affect your character’s abilities however the storyline will be affected. This gives the player the freedom to choose whichever one they like and not opt for the one that provides more benefits.
Kayn vs Altruis WoW
Both Kayn Sunfury and Altruis the Sufferer have different ideologies which they bring as your second in command. Choosing either one has different effects on the fate of Illidari.
Players often get confused as to what they should pick and whether or not there will be consequences for choosing one over the other. Here are a few differences between Kayn and Altruis that might help you decide which one you like better.
Kayn Sunfury
Kayn Sunfury is loved by most of the player base in the world of warcraft. Not to mention the awesome character design. The thing that people love the most about Kayn is that he only cares about results and is willing to use any means necessary. He does not care about how many enemies he has to slay and will go to great lengths for Illidians’ success.
As far as the storyline is concerned you will be killing Akama and taking his soul again. On this aspect, the player base is relatively divided. Half the players are saying that Akama had it coming because he betrayed us in the Black Temple. The other half however thinks that Kayn is evil for doing so. They believe choosing Kayn would mean that having a second in command that will make rash decisions that could affect the fate of Illidari for the worse.
Kayn just focuses on the getting revenge aspect of the story. He does not stop to consider what the reasons were for the attack on Illidari. This is why people like Kayn. They believe that a demon hunter is not supposed to be all that reserved. Moreover, the biggest plus is loyalty. Kayn never went against Illidari ever. People feel like choosing Altruis will be like having a traitor lead the people he betrayed.
Altruis the Sufferer
As compared to Kayn people consider Altruis to be wiser and more mature. They believe that Altruis is concerned for the fate of Illidari and he did what he thought was necessary. Players who like Altruis believe that Kayn was deluded and didn’t think anything through. Altruis cares about how he achieves the results, unlike Kayn.
From the storyline point of view by choosing Altruis the Sufferer you will be convincing Akama to join you instead of having him killed. But players believe that Akama should be killed for backstabbing Illidari in the Black Temple. While Altruis thinks that Akama can prove to be of use in the grand scheme of things. Players believe that Altruis is nicer than Kayn and thus opt for him to be their second in command.
This however can create a divide in the long run between the Illidari as they will know the second in command is a traitor who left them in their time of need. You should strive towards looking for a more unified front. As the hatred fostering in Illidari won’t be extinguished unless they get proper revenge that Kayn can provide.
Altruis cannot be trusted is the mindset of most players. However, they are not aware that Altruis is only trying to change the methods of Illidari for the better. He is trying to end the circle of violence but was misunderstood and is not considered a traitor.
Keeping all this information in mind you can either choose Kayn or Altruis as your second in command. If you were concerned about the DPS then don’t be worried anymore because choosing either one will not have an impact on your character stats. The only thing this decision will change is the storyline. So, just choose the one with whom you agree and are willing to have as your second in command.
