There are many modes in battle royales games that players can choose depending upon how many teammates they have. It is rare for players to always have the right amount of people in their party relative to a particular game mode. You will often see parties with only 3 members in the squad mode. It can be difficult to win team fights when you’re short on one member of your party.
That is why you will see everyone use the fill feature while queuing for a match. That way a random player can join the party and they can compete with other players on equal footing.
Fortnite Fill with The Same Platform
The fill feature only works when you’re at a party with players on the same platform. Meaning that if your friend is on console and you need a 4th guy for the party then the fill feature won’t work for you. You will need to use online forums or chat servers to get a fourth member for your party. So, if you can’t get the fill feature to work in your game while then the reason for that is you have someone in the party that is not on the same platform. If you want to use this feature then you will have to remove the player that is on a different platform.
You can toggle between the fill and no fill feature easily by going into the queue settings and changing the squad fill status. If there are only two players in the party then it is probably best for you to play duos, because you can’t use the fill feature in the squad mode and will have to win 2v4 fights. However, if you believe that you’re skilled enough to overcome that disadvantage in every fight then by all means you should queue up squad mode to polish your skills. However, it is impossible to get a random person in your party if you’re party has players from different platforms.
The reason why you can’t use the fill feature in a cross-platform party is that other players don’t prefer to join a lobby with cross-platform players because that can create a disadvantage for them in team fights. If there are 2 console players on your team while only one on the enemy team then it is possible for the enemy team to have an edge as PC players are known to be more skilled. So, to avoid this unfair matchup EPIC has made sure that users with cross-platform parties are not able to use the fill feature.
That way no one will get frustrated about getting placed in a cross-platform party. So, to use the fill feature players must not have any members from other platforms. That way you can get all four members in your squad that are from the same platform, which will make the game fair for your team and you won’t have to worry about enemies having an unfair advantage over your team.
Use Online Platforms to Fill Lobby
If you can’t use the fill feature and keep losing team fights because you’re short on one member, then you should try using online platforms like Gamer Link and Discord servers to find the fourth members for your party. You can specify requirements along with the timings to find the perfect teammate for your party. That way you won’t have to use the fill feature anymore as your party will be complete. Moreover, you can use these platforms to communicate even when you’re not in a lobby, which makes them a perfect place for gamers to connect.
Fortnite has also added some features to make it easier for gamers to add friends into their EPIC account. If you have a lot of friends then you won’t have to worry about being short on party members. So, make sure to keep adding new friends that are closer to your skill level. Then you can ask them to join your party and you can push rank together and participate in tournaments to secure different prizes. Finding good teammates is very important if you want to improve at the game. Otherwise, you will just keep getting frustrated and end up uninstalling the game from your PC.
