A mouse is one of the most important peripherals that will determine how well you will play in a game. This is why picking up the right product for the purpose can be one of the hardest decisions you will have to make regarding your gaming rig.
In recent years, we have seen Corsair stack up pretty well when it comes to delivering good mouse products. Today, we will be comparing two of their most popular mouse, which is the Corsair Nightsword vs the Dark Core. So, if you wish to learn which one of them might be the better fit for you, then here are some things to keep in mind:
Corsair Nightsword vs Dark Core Gaming Mouse Comparison
1. Sensor Performance
Especially for shooter games, a mouse sensor can determine how well it will be able to track and help players in flicking their opponents. This is precisely why having a good sensor is incredibly important for a gaming mouse.
Though if we were to talk about how good either of the two models is when it comes to the sensor, the performance is almost identical. As these models have a similar sensor installed inside them, you shouldn’t feel that big of a difference when using these.
However, it is still worth mentioning how the Corsair Dark Core comes with a DPI range of 100-16,000, whereas the Corsair Nighsword has a bigger range of 100-18,000. But if we’re being honest, you won’t really be using the extra DPI numbers.
2. Connectivity
Another important aspect relating to a gaming mouse is connectivity. Depending on whether a mouse connects to a computer wired or wirelessly, you can set up and use your other peripherals accordingly. While in the past, players used to prefer wired gaming mice as they didn’t feature any lag, wireless mice have improved over time to be as better.
This is also where you will notice a big difference as the Corsair Nightsword comes with a wired connection compared to the Dark Core which is completely wireless. Also, even with the wireless connection, we didn’t feel any stutter or issues while testing out the Corsair Dark Core.
Still, there were some cases where we felt the Corsair Nightcore performed better thanks to the model being wired. But in the actual performance of most games, we weren’t able to tell the difference under most circumstances.
3. Comfort
Both the Corsair Dark Core as well as the Nightcore were comfortable for the hands. However, if you are someone with big hands, you will notice the Corsair Nightcore is a much better fit for your case. Not only does the mouse have slightly better RGB that looks better on your hands, but your hands also won’t feel tired and should easily be able to reach most buttons.
Though the Nightcore has a stiff cord which under certain situations made for slight discomfort when playing a game.
But when we compare the mouse against the Dark Core which is entirely wireless, it comes with fantastic support on the right side. The mouse also comes with a ledge that should act as a good rest for your pinky and ring finger. Both these mouse models weigh almost the same with the Nightsword being slightly lighter (119g) in contrast to the Dark Core (128g).
What to Pick?
To identify which of the two models might be the better purchase for your case, you will first have to determine the features that you are looking for inside a mouse. More specifically, are you fine with having a wired connection, or are you looking for a completely wireless connection?
With the Corsair Dark Core, you will get to enjoy a seamless experience without the need of wire. On the other hand, if you decide to go for the Nightcore, you will get to experience a slightly better performing mouse with great comfort and improved RGB with the drawback of being wired. So, the final decision really boils down to what you prefer more in a gaming mouse.
