Even though it can be unpleasant playing shooting games with a controller. But when it comes to racing games the keyboard and mouse can’t keep with a controller. The SteelSeries 3GC is a wired controller that you can use with your PC or MAC. Compared to the Stratus XL it is a bit cheaper and bulkier in size.

- Check Key Binds
If your controller is showing up in the list of connected devices and only a few buttons are malfunctioning on your device then you can try checking the key binds in your game.
The reason why you’re having some buttons to work properly on your SteelSeries 3GC controller is that no actions are bound to these buttons. So, even if the button is getting registered, your character won’t execute any action in the game. To fix that, you need to open up the game settings and go to controller configurations.
From the configurations tab, just bind the buttons to the action and apply the settings. Now, go into a match and try using the controller to see if you’re able to get the controller to work. This fix is for users that have no issues with the connection between the controller and the windows, and the controller is recognized by the game.
- Check Drivers
A lot of new games are not compatible with the 3GC controller. So, if you’re not able to use the controller with a particular game then you will need to check the compatibility list to be sure whether or not you can use 3GC with that particular game. However, if you’re having issues with the controller not being recognized by the windows then try updating the USB drivers by going to the device manager.
Just type device manager in the Windows search bar and click on the first icon, then go to human interface devices and uninstall the drivers for your controller. Reboot your windows to allow the OS to install the compatible drivers again. You can also try using a different USB port on your PC to eliminate the possibility of a faulty port on your PC.
- Damaged Controller
If the controller is not getting recognized by windows and you can’t get anything to work then we believe that your controller is faulty. In which case, you will have to either spend some money to buy a new controller or get your current controller replaced.
We suggest that you go for an Xbox or PS controller as they are very reliable and won’t run into issues. Moreover, most of the new games have compatibility for these controllers and it is very rare to find a game that doesn’t support either of these two controllers mentioned above. So, if you don’t have a warranty then save some money to buy an Xbox controller.
