Overwatch

Overwatch is a squad-based multiplayer FPS developed and owned by Blizzard Entertainment. The game features a variety of game modes, each having a different objective. Although the game is played competitively at a large scale, there are game modes available for casual players who just want to have some fun.

Recently, a sequel has been announced for the game which brings in more content for Player versus Environment (PvE), and Player versus Player (PvP) as well. The developers have mentioned that Overwatch players will be able to play with those who own overwatch 2, meaning most of the exclusive content it brings will strictly be PvE.

We have seen a few timed events in overwatch featuring some of the lore in PvE style, but we have yet to see that turn into a game mode, with the actual progression of the story.

Destiny

Destiny is a multiplayer First-Person Shooter (FPS) developed by Bungie and formerly published by Activision. After the success of Destiny 2, the game is now published by Bungie themselves as they got separated from Activision.

The game features both PvP and PvE. While having a complete storyline campaign, destiny requires its players to keep grinding for better gear. The player will need to complete multiple quests, events, daily bounties, weekly bounties, and PVP. All of this in an attempt to grind for better gear.

It’s been a few years since Bungie released Destiny 2, which was a pretty solid sequel to the first one. Newer content is being rolled out at a rapid pace, making sure the player never runs out of content. Even now the game has enough content to keep players busy for hundreds of hours!

Overwatch vs Destiny- Which One?

Comparing overwatch vs destiny, there are a number of things that come into play before one can decide which one is the better game. While both surely offer a fantastic multiplayer gaming experience, one might want to know which one’s the better choice. He might not have enough resources, time, or energy to play both.

Some of the main aspects of both the games are mentioned to help you choose one according to your preference. All of them are listed right below:

  1. Gameplay

One of the most important aspects when it comes to choosing a game is the gameplay. Overwatch offers its users with diverse gameplay as the game features over 30 heroes. Each of them has an entirely different style of gameplay. Right now, the game is strictly PvP, with some timed events every now and then featuring a small PvE game mode.

Destiny has evolved into a really good game with the release of Destiny 2. Players can enjoy both PvP and PvE. Although destiny’s PvP is not as good as overwatch’s and most of the players play it for grinding a specific item or completing a task, but destiny’s PvE is possibly one of the best PvE any FPS multiplayer game has offered.

  1. Pricing

Another important aspect when deciding between a game can be the pricing of both. For some, it can be the final deciding factor as they are just looking for a good game without having to spend much. Although Overwatch has had free weekends, and the game goes on sale quite often. All of the editions still cost quite a few bucks.

While for destiny, players can grab the latest installment of the game for free on Steam. But it’s not as good as it sounds, as the majority of destiny’s 2 content is available only when you buy the DLCs. Players can still try it out as they will still get content worth of hours.

  1. Playability

Playability points to the state of a game being playable and enjoyed by its players. A game should have good playability, given its players don’t get bored and keep enjoying the game. As overwatch has been a huge part of Esports, the game keeps getting newer content on a regular basis.  A sequel is also already in the works.

In contrast, destiny 2 is also getting newer content with a recent DLC that just rolled out with tons of content. There have not been any official statements on another sequel for now, but the game will surely feature more content in the future.
