Overwatch has a very wide range of characters to choose from, with the game offering you 31 different characters to with more being added every few months. What’s impressive about this, is the fact that Blizzard provides a very detailed back story for all of these characters along with unique skins for all of them which give their appearance a fancier feel. Most importantly however is the fact that each and every one of these characters feels entirely different to play as, meaning you’ll never get bored of the game.
Among these post-release added characters was one name, called Sombra. Sombra was technically in the game since release. Sombra is a hacker who wants to be on the top of the world controlling every major politician by hacking through government computers and finding secrets about them. Eventually, she teamed up with Talon, but she only did that to use Talon for her personal gains.
In the game, Sombra uses her hacking abilities to hack her enemies, which restricts them from using their abilities and reduces mobility. During her initial release, Sombra was quite weak and her abilities were very difficult to work with because of the restrictions placed on them but over time Sombra was buffed and turned into the formidable damage hero she is now.
Sombra can turn invisible and easily sneak up on you making her very frustrating to deal with. But there are some heroes that can deal with Sombra with relative ease. If you’ve had enough of Sombra tormenting you try using some of these characters to get rid of Sombra:
Sombra Counters In Overwatch
Bastion
Bastion has no damaging abilities, only being able to change his configuration and healing himself. But when he changes his configuration to sentry he is the highest damage dealing character in the game and can eliminate every hero easily. Bastion has no mobility increasing abilities making Sombra’s hacks less frustrating. Even if Sombra hacks him Bastion stays in the same configuration he was hacked in so even after the hack you can gun down Sombra easily.
Widowmaker
Widowmaker is a ranged character keeping her safe from Sombra’s hacks most of the time. When the enemy team has a Sombra, try playing Widowmaker if your sniping is good. Be slightly more attentive, and watch out for opportunities when Sombra comes out from hiding to hack a teammate and proceed to eliminate her. This does require good skill though as most of the time you will need to get a headshot to take her out before she makes her escape by translocating.
Widowmaker’s ultimate also makes Sombra visible to all teammates, rendering her invisibility useless for a short while and making it much easier for you and your team to eliminate her. But even so, if Sombra decides to focus on taking you out it will be quite easy for her to deal with you as Widowmaker is quite weak from close range.
Symmetra
Symmetra is a strong damage hero that can deal with Sombra with relative ease. Symmetra only has 2 abilities which are already in action most of the time and are not de-activated after Sombra hacks her. After Sombra reveals herself your turrets should easily be able to take her out or at least buy your teammates enough time to get to her as they also restrict mobility.
Pharah
Pharah is an aerial hero who deals with everyone from the skies providing herself with a very safe distance from enemies and making it very hard to hit her. Her distance from enemies makes it impossible for Sombra to hack her, only giving Sombra a small window when Pharah runs out of fuel. Only two hits from her rocket launcher are enough to kill Sombra most of the time. But be wary as Pharah is useless without her abilities making Sombra’s hacks something to be scared of.
