Steelseries Siberia 800 vs 840
Design and Appearance
Both the Steelseries Siberia 800 and 840 are surprisingly similar to one another when it comes to overall design and appearance. In fact, you could say that they’re completely identical to each other in this aspect.
One could argue that this makes sense since they are headsets that belong to the same brand, and to get even more specific, they also belong to the exact same series of products. Still, it is quite understandable how some players are upset that there’s not much variety between the two in this regard.
The only few notable differences are the extra things that can be found on the Steelseries Siberia 840. The headset has different ear cups which are much flashier in terms of design, being somewhat shiny and appealing to look at.
They’re also more comfortable, which is a nice bonus. There’s also an extra button on one side of this headset which isn’t exactly too noticeable, but it’s still a difference. What this extra button does exactly will be discussed later on.
Sound Quality
It really doesn’t need to be said how important sound quality is for devices such as this. Quite frankly, outputting audio (as well as inputting it in some cases) is literally the main function of headsets.
Their popularity makes it pretty clear that both are decent in this regard. If you’ve ever compared the exact specs for two provided by the brand, you’ll find out that it’s noted that there basically isn’t any difference between the two in this regard at all.
This is true to a certain extent. Both of them are fairly even in terms of sound quality at first and there’s no denying that their capabilities are very similar because of this too.
Their maximum sound is noted to be the same in specifications, however, those that have used both the devices will know that the Siberia 840 does sound just a little louder than the Siberia 800 despite this. There’s also the fact that the sound quality of the former can be improved much more than the latter for one very simple reason which will be discussed next.
Features and Battery
While there have only been minor differences between the two so far in the other major aspects that we’ve listed, this is certainly an area where the two are technically quite different.
The Steelseries Siberia 800 has all of the basic wireless headset features that one might expect, along with 2 separate batteries given for it which can be charged and used individually. There’s nothing too special of note, other than the few surround sound and other settings.
The Siberia 840 has every single one of these features and the two batteries too, while also having a little something extra. The extra button which was mentioned previously is actually for the Bluetooth feature, meaning that this specific device can also be used with smartphones and other appliances.
It is also fully compatible with the Steelseries Engine software and its equalization settings can be changed at will. This is why it can be made much better in terms of sound quality since personalization is an option.
