The skill tree in The Division is the tool that determine how a player allocates skill points to enhance there character build. The skill tree will dictate how a character perform in combat as the skill tree will determine if the character can deal damage or if they can survive the damage that they take from an enemies in the game. A player must make a choice as to which skill tree branch they would like to use, and there are three main branches: the Assault branch, the Tactician branch, and the Survivor branch.
Each of these branch provides different benefits to the player, which alters the playstyle of that particular player within the game. The Assault branch allow the player to increase the damage per second that their weapon does. Therefore, this branch is beneficial for players who would like to increase the damage that their weapon can do.
Guide to The Division Skill Tree
The Tactician branch allows players to increase the damage that their skills do and the length of time that those skills lasts before they must be recharged. Thus, this skill tree branch is beneficial for players who use their skills more frequent. The Survivor branch allows players to purchase armor core and medical kits to increase the survivability of the player, especially when they are playing alone.
Players can choose to use only one of these branches or instead choose to use a hybrid build that utilizes some of each branch. Players of different styles will find some branches more beneficial then others. For instance, players who use stealth within the game will find the Tactician branch to be the most beneficial for there playstyle.
Players using melee attacks will find the Assault branch to be more beneficial, but they may also want to purchase the Survivor branch for armor and health. Players that use ranged attacks will find the Survivor branch to be beneficial due to the need for players to maintain distance from their enemy. Additionally, a player can use a calculator to determine which skill branch a player should use.
The difficulty levels for the game will alter how a player uses the skill tree branches. For normal difficulty, players have the freedom to use any skill tree branch combination. However, at Heroic difficulty, players must limit themselves to only the core node for their branches.
As difficulty increases, the enemies in the game have more health and can deal more damage to the players; therefore, players need to adapt their use of their skill tree branches based off their armor weight class. Players that use light armor will have more mobility for stealth players, whereas heavy armor will allow players to better take damage in the face of teh game boss. Many players make mistake when they allocate their skill points in the skill tree.
One mistake is to use even points for each branch; this will result in a lack of synergy between the weapons that the player uses and there skill tree. For instance, assault rifle will perform better with the Assault branch than any other branch. Another mistake is to attempt to reach the fifth tier for a skill before establish a good critical hit rate with their weapons.
Presets allow players to use specific skill trees for specific scenarios within the game. Players who enter the Dark Zone will use a Tactician skill preset. Additionally, during a raid, a player will use an Assault skill tree preset.
For players who play the Summit game, a hybrid skill preset will work best. These skill are not permanent and the player can change them based on the players level within the game or the demand of the enemy that they encounter. Combat score will help a player evaluate the effectiveness of there chosen skill tree build.
The score will combine statistics about a player’s success in melee combat, stealth, and ranged combat relative to the enemy. Other statistics will include the skill loop uptime for measuring how often a player can use their skills relative to time, and the time-to-kill index for measuring how long it takes to defeat an enemy boss. Players with low skill loop uptime will benefit more from Tactician branches.
Players with a high time-to-kill index will benefit more from Assault game branches. Beyond the skill tree and its branches, there are other benefits to using the game that do not use its skill tree. For players who play alone, investing in the Survivor branch will provide benefits like medkits.
These will give players the opportunity to have a second chance in the event of dying during combat. For players within groups, using a group strategy will have one player use the Assault branch to take damage and another player using the Tactician branch for visibility and targeting of enemies. Players should of use a print sheet for their skill tree to ensure that they dont make regrets in how they allocate their skill tree points.
Overall, the goal of creating a skill tree within the game is to create a character build that fit the player and allows the player to make progress within the game’s combat encounters.
