🔥 D2R Character Planner
Plan a Diablo II Resurrected build across class, attributes, skill budget, FCR, FHR, FBR, resists, block, merc aura, MF route, and difficulty penalties.
| Difficulty | Penalty | Anya max | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 0% | +10% | Early gearing |
| Nightmare | -40% | +20% | Fix major gaps |
| Hell | -100% | +30% | Overstack resists |
| Conviction areas | Extra loss | Varies | Stack lightning |
The calculator applies the selected penalty plus 10 resistance per completed Anya quest.
| Build type | FCR target | FHR target | FBR note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Caster MF | 63-105 | 42-86 | Usually low |
| Hammerdin | 75-125 | 48-86 | Holy Shield |
| Amazon clear | 0-68 | 52-86 | Shield based |
| Smiter | 0-48 | 48-86 | Max block |
| Trap or Mosaic | 42-102 | 48-86 | Route based |
Class forms and skills can use different animation tables; verify unusual setups.
| Aura | Best fit | Planner value | Watch item |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holy Freeze | MF safety | Control | Cold shatter |
| Might | Physical | Damage | Merc survival |
| Defiance | Hardcore | Defense | Less offense |
| Prayer Insight | Caster | Sustain | Aura level |
| Conviction | Elemental | Break res | Immunities |
Aura scoring is route-based: control, damage, defense, sustain, or resistance breaking.
| Run target | MF band | Speed need | Survival need |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mephisto | 250-400 | High | Medium |
| Chaos | 150-300 | High | High |
| Cows | 100-250 | Very high | Medium |
| Travincal | 100-250 | High | Very high |
| Ubers | 0-50 | Medium | Extreme |
More MF has diminishing returns if it costs breakpoints, resists, or route speed.
| Preset | Class | Route focus | Main risk | Key planner check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blizzard Mephisto Sorceress | Sorceress | MF boss | Low block | 105 FCR and cold safety |
| Hammerdin Chaos Sanctuary | Paladin | Area clear | Magic immunes | 75 or 125 FCR with max res |
| Lightning Fury Cow Amazon | Amazon | Cow density | Lightning gaps | FHR, mana, and speed |
| Mosaic Terror Zone Assassin | Assassin | Terror Zones | Charge upkeep | FHR and resist average |
| Smiter Uber Paladin | Paladin | Ubers | Conviction | Block, resists, aura fit |
Presets fill real D2R build shapes, then the breakdown shows where exact gear and level change the plan.
In creating a Diablo II Resurrected character, there is several decisions to make in the character planner that will ensure that the character performs correctly at higher difficulty. For instance, it is necessary to decide how much strength the character should have, whether the character has enough resistance to survive the game at Hell difficulty, and whether the animation frames for the character allow the character to perform actions such as casting spells before the enemy attack the players character. Each of these decisions is crucial in that they will determine whether or not the player experiences a smooth and successful game of Diablo II Resurrected, or if their character die very frequently.
The planner’s inputs address each of these questions for the player. The level and skills for the character provide the player with a budget for the characters skills, since every skill point spent on a synergy skill is a skill point that is lost from either the character’s life or utility skill. Additionally, the plus skills that the character’s gear provide are separate from the skills so that the player can understand their characters abilities without removing any skill from their character.
How to Use the Character Planner in Diablo II Resurrected
The strength and dexterity for the character are important in that strength will determine if the character can wear they gear, while dexterity will impact the character’s chance to block enemy attacks. More specifically, the dexterity the player inputs into the character must account for the dexterity their character will have at the end of level 80, not just their current dexterity. The character planner will calculate these values so that the player can determine if they have too many or too few skill points to dedicate to dexterity.
Other values for the character, such as faster cast rate, hit recovery, and block rate are important for the character in gameplay itself. These stats are not optional stats for the character, but are essential statistics that ensure the player’s character can stand a chance against the games enemies. Should the player’s character miss any breakpoints for any of these stats, their character may become stuck on screen while the enemies attack the player.
Such a loss of animation frames for the player’s character is something that will become a problem the more times that the player’s character is expected to complete those breakpoint. Thus, the character planner will compare the player’s character statistics to tables for their class to ensure that the player can determine if acquiring another piece of gear is worth it. The resistances for the player’s character also work similarly to each of the other stats, but with an additional calculation.
The player will have to account for the 100 point penalty that Hell difficulty apply to all resistances. The character planner will subtract any resistances taken from any Anya quests that the player has completed, as well. The resulting number will tell the player if their character has high enough resistances to survive Diablo II Resurrected, or if their resistances are too low.
Low resistances can lead to the player’s character dying in instances where the enemy applies a conviction aura to their character. The lightning resistance for the player’s character is the most important of the resistances, as most of the most dangerous enemies in the game has lightning damage. However, cold and fire resistances are also among the most important for the character.
The mercenary auras that are chosen for the character have the potential to change the character’s route, but do not have any impact upon the player’s character statistics. For instance, using a Holy Freeze mercenary will slow the enemy packs to give the player more time to react, while using a Might mercenary aura will increase the character’s physical damage to speed at clearing there enemies. These options will be compared to the enemy packs to allow the players to understand if the aura may be of any benefit to their chosen route.
Magic find will be considered for the player’s character at the last step in the creation of the character. The player’s current magic find will be compared to the magic find needed for the chosen route to the game, as well as being weighed against the other stats for the player’s character. While high magic find is considered a desirable stat for many players, the planner will tell the player if increasing magic find will result in fewer frame for the player’s character.
This table will allow the player to understand how well the character will perform in each type of game content, so that the player does not neglect any type of content in their preparation of the character. Tables are included on the planner that allow the player to make their decisions. These tables include information about the penalties for each difficulty level, the targets for breakpoints, and the magic find for each route.
These tables provide context for players to make their decisions without memorizing the various patches that was implemented to the game. While the Diablo II Resurrected character planner will provide the best guidance possible for the creation of the player’s envisioned character, no planner can provide the same feeling as the player actually plays their character. Only by playing the character can the player recognize if a breakpoint is incorrect for their character, or if they are dying too frequently in their character.
Thus, the planner provides the best guidance for the creation of the character, but the actual playing of the game is required to create an optimal player character. The planner should of been used as a tool for the players to adjust the characters’ statistics to find the best stats for their character for the content that they will play. Each adjustment will help the players to understand which stats are the most important for their character’s survival, effectiveness, and viability in the game.
A successful character is one that can survive the penalties of each difficulty level, hits the necessary animation frames to succeed in their encounter, and can find the items that will allow the player’s character to survive unexpected enemy.
