How to Fix Lost Ark Could Not Connect To Game On One Character?
- Delete and Reinstall Steam, Then Launch Steam
If you’re having issues with a single character in the game, then the first step would be to delete and reinstall the steam client. This will replace any corrupted files that may be preventing you from launching the game on that character. If this doesn’t solve your issue, try creating another steam account for your other characters and see if those work.
- Uninstall/Reinstall Game
Reboot your PC and try connecting to the game again. If you still cannot connect, then you may need to reinstall the game by uninstalling it through Steam or Programs and Features on Windows 10. You can uninstall using Steam by following these steps:
- Go to Games in Steam Library (top-left). Right-click on Ark: Survival Evolved, then choose Uninstall from the drop-down menu.
- When prompted for confirmation, click Yes.
- The process will take a few minutes.
- Once complete, restart your computer and try reconnecting to the game once more.
- Clear Both DNS Cache and Local Hosts File
Some people have reported that clearing the cache on their computer or their local hosts file fixes this problem. - Change Server Network Settings
The general solution for this problem is to change the network settings. You can do this by clicking on the game’s title in Steam and then right-clicking properties. There, you’ll find an option that reads Network Settings and when you click on it, a window will pop up. In that window, you should be able to select your desired type of connection such as TCP/IP or NAT. Click ok after making your selection and the game should start working again.
- Port Forward UDP Listening Ports from Your Router
This should resolve the issue with being unable to connect from only one of your characters. In order for this to work, you need to find the port numbers in question and provide them as listed. So, if you start up ark and use a port scanner, it will list out the ports used. Then all you have to do is go into your router’s settings and open up those specific ports on your router. Your router should now allow traffic through those ports! If that doesn’t work, be sure that any firewall software on your computer is not blocking these ports.
