Unfortunately, a large number of players are still reporting problems with high ping in New World, and the game has even been known to crash on occasion.
Your location can have a significant effect on the ping that you experience while playing an online game, and there are a number of different factors that could be causing this problem.
In spite of this, there are still a few things you can do to fix your high ping so that you can continue playing your favorite massively multiplayer online role-playing game as quickly as possible, such as New World.
Why Is New World Ping So High?
- Check Your Internet Connection
Check your internet connection by running a speed test. If it’s slow, you might need an upgrade. If the connection is stable and fast enough, the issue might be your router.
Try resetting it or turning it off and back on again. You can also try changing the wireless channel of your router or moving it closer to the devices that are experiencing low ping.
If this doesn’t work, there may be a problem with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Keep trying different things until you find what works best for you!
- Change Your Server Region
If you are experiencing high ping, the first thing you should do is change your server region. This will allow you to connect with a server that is geographically closer to your location and may help reduce ping times.
You can find out what server regions are available by logging into your account on Blizzard’s website. If changing servers does not seem to be an option for you, there are a few other things you can try. The first is updating your network drivers.
Even if it seems like all of your drivers are up to date, it never hurts to check again just in case. The next step would be to replace any old cables or wires connecting devices on your network.
Finally, ensure that all of the computers connected to your home network have up-to-date antivirus protection installed so they can properly protect themselves from malicious software trying to interfere with traffic coming from the internet connection.
- Check NAT Type
If you’re experiencing high ping, there are a few things that you can do to troubleshoot the issue. First, make sure your NAT type is set correctly.
The two most common types of NAT that players run into are strict and moderate. If you have a strict type of NAT, then it’s possible that your router might not be able to communicate with other players.
To change this, go into the router settings and find out what type of NAT you have on it. There should be an option for NAT or Network Address Translation. Change the type from strict to moderate and see if it helps.
- Restart Router
For most people, restarting their wireless router should do the trick. Make sure that you don’t have any devices connected while you’re restarting your router.
It may take a few minutes for the new settings to go into effect, so give it some time. If you are still experiencing high ping after restarting your router, try connecting directly to your modem with an ethernet cable or power cycling the modem.
