🛡 Warframe Armor Calculator
Measure armor scaling, shield gate support, and total durability across tank, gate, hybrid, and overguard setups.
This calculator blends armor DR, Adaptation, ability DR, shield risk, and overguard into one survivability estimate.
| Frame | Base stats | Armor posture | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rhino | 100 HP / 190 ARM / 150 SH | Reliable tank shell | Easy armor scaling |
| Inaros | 550 HP / 225 ARM / 0 SH | Health soak body | No shield planning |
| Nezha | 100 HP / 150 ARM / 150 SH | Halo gate posture | Fast refresh play |
| Revenant | 100 HP / 225 ARM / 100 SH | Buff shell posture | Layered denial loop |
Use the frame table as a starting shell, then tune the mod fields around the role you actually want to survive with.
| Source | Type | Gain | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steel Fiber | Mod | Armor % | Simple multiplier slot |
| Umbral Fiber | Set mod | Armor % | Pairs with health mods |
| Arcane Guardian | Arcane | Flat armor | Huge burst buffer |
| Parasitic Armor | Ability | Health to armor | Temporary conversion |
Flat armor and percent armor are handled separately because they scale differently once the build starts stacking multiple layers.
| Type | Shield risk | Health risk | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Impact | 1.0x | 1.0x | Baseline hit |
| Slash | 4.0x | 1.25x | Bleed pressure |
| Toxin | 15.0x | 1.1x | Bypasses shields |
| Magnetic | 1.6x | 1.0x | Shield stress |
The damage profile table is a survivability heuristic. It helps the calculator show why some frames lean into armor while others lean into gate timing.
| Armor | DR | Multiplier | Use case |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 | 50% | 2.0x | Starter tank |
| 600 | 66.7% | 3.0x | Mid game wall |
| 900 | 75% | 4.0x | Heavy armor |
| 1200 | 80% | 5.0x | Late tank line |
Every 300 armor adds another useful tier of health mitigation, but shield gate and overguard can be the better answer on lighter frames.
Warframe is a free co-op shooter from third person, currently in open beta for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and iOS The word “armor” in Warframe has two meanings. It relates to a stat that lowers damage, or to decor physical parts set to the body of Warframe.
Armor as a stat reduces damage to health, but not to shields. Not all enemies have it. Warframes, many bosses and all Grineer have it, but average Corpus and Infested enemies do not have any.
What Armor Means in Warframe
There is no armor system like that in Monster Hunter or Destiny. In that game “armor” is a stat, not gear. Players swap their suits or Warframes, as if choosing different players in Genshin Impact.
The formula for resistence works thus: 300 armor gives 50 percent reduction, and 2700 armor reaches 90 percent. There is no cap for armor. For 99 percent resistance Warframe requires around 30,000 armor, and about 300,000 for 99.9 percent.
High armor reduces health damage after shield breach, but it is only worth it for frames with at least 150 base. Valkyr and Excalibur profit well, where Valkyr wins the most among frames except Chroma with Vex Armour. Warframe with low armor, as Volt, has very low damage reduction.
High base armor makes it useful for frames as Rhino, Inaros and Atlas. A frame with 100 base and health profits more from health. Frames as Grendel, Atlas or Wukong with passive traits and skills can reach 1500 armor plus the base.
Rhino requires armor and strength, because more they give more Overguard. Nezha also needs armor and strength for Warding Halo.
Thanks to mods, arcanes and Archon shards available, you can easily reach 600 to 1200 armor on any Warframe, which gives 50 to 80 percent damage reduction. But that must be on top of other defensive layers. For low levels to Steel Path armor with Adaptation still works fine.
From a look viewpoint armor bits are parts that set to chest of Warframe, shoulders and legs. Every place, chest, left shoulder, right shoulder, left leg and right leg (can have its own bit). Leg armor pieces are a good entry to TennoGen, because they allow you to add visual accents to the silhouette of Warframe and help creators find styles and factions from the gameuniverse.
