Given the nature of the Skyrim perk system, player must focus on there character to ensure they are utilizing the perks effective. The Skyrim perk system reward players for specializing in specific skill. Many players attempt to distribute their perk point across several skill tree.
However, distributing their perk points across several skill trees will result in their character being mediocre at all skills. Furthermore, a character that is mediocre at all skills will struggle to defeat enemy. This is due to the fact that a character that is mediocre at all skills dont have the amount of power needed to defeat enemies.
Focus on One Main Skill
Therefore, a player should focus their character on a primary skill lane and investment in that primary skill lane. A player can choose several different archetypes for their character. Each of these archetypes require certain skill to function well.
For example, a stealth archer will use both the Archery and the Sneak skills because the Sneak skill will increase the damage that the Archery skill deals. Thus, if a player chooses this character type, they should invest in both the Archery and the Sneak skills to enhance the damage that the character will do. Other archetypes include a melee character that uses One-Handed and Shield skills, or a mage character that uses Destruction skill.
Each of these character types should invest in their primary skill to a mid-tier level because they will unlock certain ability and perks that will increase the damage or strength of the character. Lastly, standing stone are important for players to understand because they provide bonus to the player leveling process. For example, using the Thief Stone will increase the speed at which a player levels in stealth skills, and the Warrior Stone will increase the speed at which a player levels in melee skills.
If a player chooses the wrong standing stone for their character skill, the player will level at a slower rate. Thus, players should choose a standing stone that match with their primary skill to ensure that they have an efficient leveling process for the game. Crafting skill, such as Smithing and Enchanting, are essential for every character archetype because crafting skill increase the effectiveness of the player combat skills.
Smithing skill increase the damage that weapons will deal with every swing. Enchanting skill allow the player to give magical property to the items that the player use in combat. Even if the player is focusing on one combat skill, the player cant ignore the importance of having Smithing and Enchanting skills because these skill will provide the gear that will enhance the player combat skills.
Warriors with high Smithing skill will be able to survive the combat more better. Mages with high Enchanting skill will have gear that will help them by regenerating their magicka. Perk points are a limited resource for players because players only earn a specific number of perk point for each level that they earn in the game.
If a player selects six different skill tree for advancement, they will exhaust their perk points before the skill trees reach mastery. A better plan would be to focus on one primary skill tree and then select a few secondary skill trees later in the game. A player can reset the Legendary perk tree once any skill tree reach 100 level.
However, players should not use this skill tree in the early or mid-game in order to ensure that their character has sufficient power to complete the quest that they encounter at this stage of the game. Dragon soul can be used to unlock shout from dragons that will provide additional utility for the player. For instance, a player can use dragon soul to unlock shout such as Become Ethereal or Unrelenting Force that will assist the player during combat.
However, players should not hoard dragon soul because they have other vital task to perform in the game. By monitoring the build of the character, players can focus on the primary skill tree and mastery trees because if there is a low budget for perk, players can reallocate their perk points to protect their primary skill trees. By focusing on the primary skill tree and leveling up the skill that provide the best synergy with the primary skill, the player will create an effective character for the game.
