If your computer is running Rivals of Aether and you’ve gotten to the main menu only to encounter a blank screen, the game will not be able to load, and you’ll have encountered what some players refer to as the Blank Screen of Death.
Unfortunately, this issue can’t be solved through updating drivers or reinstalling the game, but there are still a few steps you can take to remedy it. Keep reading for information on how to troubleshoot this issue so that you can play Rivals of Aether again!
How To Fix Rivals Of Aether Black Screen?
- Check for Graphics Card Driver Updates
If your graphics card driver is outdated, you can try updating it to the latest version. You can find the latest drivers on your computer manufacturer’s website.
Once you have downloaded and installed them, reboot your computer and see if that fixes the problem. If not, it may be time to contact customer support.
- Verify Game Files
If you’re experiencing a blank screen, try verifying your game files. To do this, open Steam and select Library from the menu on the left-hand side.
Next, right-click on Rivals of Aether and select Properties. On this page, look for where it says Local Files and click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.
This process may take some time to complete so be patient. Once finished, try launching the game again to see if that fixes the problem.
- Turn Off Fullscreen Optimization
One way to fix this issue is to disable Steam Overlay. To do this, go to your Steam Library, right-click on Rivals of Aether, and click Properties.
Next, go to the Local Files tab, then select Disable Steam Overlay while playing and press OK. This will prevent Steam from activating during gameplay.
If you want to reenable it at a later time, follow these steps but choose Enable Steam Overlay while playing.
- Disable Steam Overlay
To solve this problem, you’ll need to disable the Steam Overlay. To do this, open up your Steam settings (found by right-clicking on your game’s library), and click on In-Game under the Display section.
Click Disable Steam Overlay. Once you’ve done that, try launching your game again and see if it works. If it still doesn’t work, try downloading a fresh copy of the game from their website or from their store page on Steam.
- Try Running the Game as an Administrator
If the game still won’t start, try running it as an administrator. To do this, right-click on Rivals of Aether in your Steam Library and select Properties.
Under the General tab, click Set launch options and type -x (without quotes) into the field. Then click OK.
You should now be able to run the game as you would any other executable file with administrative privileges.
- Update DirectX
Windows users, to fix this problem you will need to make sure that you have all Windows updates installed. Make sure that you are signed into your Microsoft account and then go to Start > Settings > Updates and Security > Windows Update.
There, check if there are any pending updates to download or install. If there are, click on Install Now and wait for it to finish installing. Then restart your computer.
