🛡 Last Epoch Armor Shred Calculator
Estimate shred stacks, armor removed, uptime, and hit damage gain for Last Epoch bosses and high-health targets.
| Mechanic | Value | Calculator use | Practical note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base duration | 4 seconds | Stack window | Extended by ailment duration |
| Per-stack armor loss | 100 armor | Armor removed | Scaled by increased effect |
| Maximum stacks | Unlimited | No hard cap | Curve still has diminishing returns |
| Damage affected | Hits only | DPS estimate | Damage over time excluded |
| Non-physical hits | 70% armor value | Damage profile | Physical hits gain more |
The calculator treats percent chance above 100% as expected multiple shred applications per hit.
| Build style | Hits/sec | Shred chance | Expected result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slow burst spell | 1 to 2 | 40% to 80% | Low stacks unless duration is high |
| Melee channel | 6 to 12 | 60% to 150% | Strong sustained stacks |
| Projectile spam | 10 to 25 | 40% to 120% | Excellent boss ramp |
| Minion swarm | 20 to 60 | 20% to 80% | Very high stacks if focused |
| Cooldown nuke | 0.5 to 1.5 | 100%+ | Needs other shred sources |
Multiply action rate by hits per action to estimate how often the target receives shred rolls.
| Scenario | Armor | Level | Resistance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Training dummy | 0 | 100 | 0% |
| Empowered boss | 0 | 100 | 0% |
| Arena boss | 500 | 100 | 10% |
| High armor rare | 1500 | 100 | 20% |
| Campaign boss | 300 | 70 | 0% |
Enemy armor varies by context, so the custom fields are more important than any preset label.
| Live stacks | Armor loss | Gain feel | Build signal |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 to 20 | 0 to 2,000 | Small | Needs faster hits or duration |
| 20 to 60 | 2,000 to 6,000 | Noticeable | Good for many hit builds |
| 60 to 140 | 6,000 to 14,000 | Strong | Excellent boss uptime |
| 140 to 250 | 14,000 to 25,000 | Diminishing | Compare effect vs other stats |
| 250+ | 25,000+ | Heavy curve | Likely minion or extreme setup |
Large armor shred stacks still help, but the armor curve makes every extra stack less explosive.
| Preset | Main source | Stack profile | Best tuning lever |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flurry Marksman Bossing | Rapid bow hits | Fast ramp | Chance and uptime |
| Warpath Forge Guard | Channel ticks | Stable sustain | Duration and effect |
| Hammer Throw Smite | Multi-hit throws | High sustain | Hits per action |
| Shadow Cascade Bladedancer | Echoed melee hits | Burst ramp | Boss uptime |
| Necro Minion Swarm | Many minions | Extreme stacks | Target focus |
| Meteor Sorcerer Burst | Slow spell hits | Low sustain | Other shred sources |
Use the comparison grid and result cards together: raw stacks matter less than the final hit damage gain.
Armor shred are a game mechanic in a game Last Epoch that reduce the armor of the target; armor shred turns a defensive statistic into a multiplier for the damage deal from hits to the target. Armor shred only apply to hits; it isnt apply to damage over time. For armor shred to be effective, player must have an understanding of armor shred and how it work.
The effectiveness of armor shred depends on the number of armor shred stack that are on the target, and for how long those armor shred stacks remains on the target. Armor shred work in that each armor shred stack remove a certain amount of armor from the target for a certain period of time. There is no maximum limit to the number of armor shred stack; the effectiveness of armor shred is limited by how often the player can apply armor shred stacks before they expire.
How Armor Shred Works and How to Use the Calculator
There are many type of attacks that can apply armor shred. Examples of such attack are fast attack, multi-hit projectile and minion swarm. Fast attack and multi-hit projectiles can reach higher level of armor shred than slow cast.
For example, a build that can land ten hit per second will be able to land more armor shred stack than a build that rely on slow cast to land its hit. A player can use the armor shred calculator to calculate the effectiveness of armor shred for a players build if the player input information about the attack rate, the number of hit per action, the armor shred chance and the duration modifier that can be applied to the attack. These four statistic will determine how many armor shred application can be performed each second.
The armor shred calculator can use that information to calculate how many armor shred stack will be created each second (steady stack count), how much armor will be removed from the target as a result of those armor shred stack, and the damage that will be deal to the target as a result. The calculator can also estimate the final damage per second (DPS) that will be deal to the target after resistance is factored in. The reference table can be used to compare the effectiveness of minion swarm build to burst caster build.
One of the most common mistake with armor shred is to believe that it will improve all type of damage applied to an opponent. Armor shred will only work with the damage that is deal from hits. Damage over time will not benefit from armor shred.
Another common mistake is to ignore the uptime of armor shred. If armor shred has uptime, the armor shred stack will not last for as long as the steady stack count show; the damage that is done will be less. The fight length and uptime field can be used to calculate the effect of downtime on armor shred effectiveness.
The type of damage that is being deal also has an impact on armor shred effectiveness. For instance, physical attack will receive the full benefit from the armor that is remove from the target. However, non-physical type of damage only receive 70% of the benefit from the armor that is remove from the target.
As a result, build that use mixed type of damage will not receive as great a benefit from armor shred node as build that are comprised entirely of physical damage node. The armor shred calculator allow players to see the benefit of armor shred node relative to penetration and critical strike damage node. Finally, the resistance and starting armor value of the target are important in the use of armor shred.
For instance, target with zero armor will be easy defeat with armor shred node, but enemy will have some starting armor. This armor value can be increased in the armor shred calculator to show the amount of armor shred that is need to deal with the armor of the target. The level of the enemy can also be take into account; higher level boss have more armor so that the armor shred is more effective.
The armor shred calculator can be used to help players make decision about what is more beneficial for their build; whether it is invest in duration or armor shred effectiveness. For instance, the armor shred calculator can help a player to understand whether armor shred uptime is a problem for their build or if it is the issue of hit rate that is limit their armor shred effectiveness. Additionally, players can determine armor shred to be a good investment in a players build if the builds hit are likely to land harder with armor shred node, and if the health bar of the enemy is likely to empty at a faster rate as a result.
If the rate of damage deal to the enemy does not increase with armor shred node, then armor shred is not a good investment of point for that player.
