In the game Harlowe, the way that attribute points is distributed is crucial to the player’s success. If the player choose to distribute there attribute points in an improper way, they will end up mediocrely in all of their attributes. The best way to distribute attribute points are for a player to design an attribute roadmap for their character to follow.

The attributes are not all the same within the game. Might are used to increase a player’s health and engage in frontline combat. Finesse is used to increase a player’s mobility and their blade tempo.

Choose One Main Attribute and Focus on It

Speed is used to increase their ability to control the rhythm of the fight. Lore is used to increase the number of cyberware slots that can be used and the number of tech weapon charges. Will is used to increase barrier strength and sustain their defenses, as well as to queue up quickhacks.

Guile is used to increase a player’s stealth abilities and their pistol precision. Because each attribute has a specific use within the game, a player must decide on one main attribute that they will develop before choosing to develop other attributes. Each player have a limited number of attribute points that can be distributed to their character based off the milestone bands that are represented for each attribute.

When a player reaches four points into an attribute, they unlock core perk. At nine points into an attribute, they unlock mid-tier perks. At fifteen points into an attribute, they unlock major perks and reach the level at which they can make that attribute their main lane.

Twenty points into an attribute represents the endgame for that specific attribute. Many players makes mistakes with attribute points because they choose to spread their attribute points too early. If players split their attribute points too early, they will end up with two mediocre attributes rather than one strong main attribute.

When a player develops a deep attribute lane for their character that goes past fifteen points, they unlock synergies that is rewarded within the game. There are also archetypes in the game that feature specific attributes that are prioritized. Rift Duelists use attributes that emphasize Will because they use hacking in their gameplay.

Rune Wardens use Finesse because they use dashes and blades in their play style. Blood Reavers use Might because they use shotguns and have high health. Storm Oracles use Lore because they use tech weapons.

Shadow Binders use Guile because they use pistols and stealth gameplay. The last of the archetypes are the hybrid builds, where players focus on multiple attributes but follow a specific priority in order to not become inefficient in their builds. In addition to the archetypes, there are also specific weapons in the game that require certain attributes to enhance their play style, and certain attributes works with specific weapons.

Sigils can be purchased from the Phantom Liberty expansion that will amplify one of the player’s attribute lanes. These sigils are especially beneficial to force multiplier for ones attribute builds, especially for those that focus on Lore. Other game elements like cyberware capacity tie into the attributes because players with high technical abilities can stretch their cyberware slots.

A player is allowed to reset their attributes once when they are building their character. Using this reset, players can experiment with their attributes during the early game. However, if they use their one reset to build the wrong attributes, their character will struggle throughout the game.

When building their character, they can use the target level and point budget to frame their attribute plan. The total number of attribute points that they will recieve at level sixty will show players if they made a potentially weak split of their attribute points. Another mistake that players make is focusing on balance in their attributes over depth.

If they try to create a balanced character, they will receive no payoff for their efforts as they will never reach major perks in any of their attributes. Instead, they should focus on one attribute past the fifteen-point mark before they branch out to other attributes. For example, they can focus on the attribute of Will for sustain skills, Finesse for critical hits, and Might for damage absorption skills.

A player must consider their weapons when building their character because if they choose a weapon that does not require a specific set of attributes, they may struggle to play that weapon effective. Players should not focus on one specific attribute past act two of the game. Until act two, players will struggle with defeating the bosses that are present in each act.

To defeat these bosses, a player must have an attribute that reaches at least fifteen points. Players with higher Lore have greater gear tolerance and can use iconic cyberware without there game crashing. There are presets for different attributes that can be selected when a player is building their character.

Examples of such presets are a Ghost Runner for stealth or a Chrome Tank for sustain attributes. Each of these can be tweaked to the players preference. The most important strategy for players is to focus on one attribute before focusing on the others to build a strong character.
