Genshin Artifact Substat Roll Calculator

💠 Genshin Artifact Substat Roll Calculator

Score a 5-star artifact with four starting substats, roll tiers, +4 through +20 upgrades, crit value, target hit odds, and expected final rolls.

🧭Artifact Presets
Mechanic note: this model assumes a 5-star artifact that already has four substats at +0. It receives one random upgrade roll at each +4, +8, +12, +16, and +20.

Artifact Setup
Used to flag main-stat and substat conflicts.
A substat cannot be the exact same stat as the main stat.
Shows the usual chance that a 5-star starts with four substats.
Domains are commonly 20%; bosses and strongboxes are commonly 34%.
Determines how many upgrade rolls should already be visible.
Future roll odds are counted between current level and target level.
Example: 3 means you want at least three total upgrades into checked target stats.
Used only for expected number of natural four-line starts.
📝Four Starting Substats
Target checkbox: check the substats you would be happy to hit on future upgrade rolls. Each future roll chooses one of the four existing substats with equal 1-in-4 odds.

Tip: A four-line start is valuable because every +4 milestone becomes an upgrade roll instead of spending +4 to reveal the fourth stat.
Tip: Crit value is a fast shorthand for CRIT-focused pieces, but EM, ER, HP%, DEF%, and ATK% can be better for specific characters.
Tip: If two of the four substats are targets, each future upgrade has a 50% chance to land somewhere useful.

Genshin Impact’s Artifact farming is randomized, but it follows a pattern. Upgrade stuff with materials. Hope for nice stats. It’s all about luck. But that doesn’t mean it should be treated like an exercise in pure chance.

There’s a pattern to its reasons. Knowing the rhyme makes blind hope a matter of calculated risk. And that’s where the calculator comes in (above). Before wasting any more resin, it tells you exactly how likely it is that you’ll hit your goals. That’s the difference between vague optimism and cold, hard data. You need cold data when game gets tough.

How to Use Data to Farm Artifacts

The strategy starts with the four-line artifact, which are a five-star artifact with level zero, four substats, and five rolls remaining. Better than a three-line piece. A three-line piece waste a roll by revealing fourth stat. Over time, having the four-line piece compound into an early advantage. It give more opportunities to stack desired character stats. This knowledge help you decide when to stop pulling and switch sources. High-potential pieces has better rates from strongboxes. It is worth the premium even with increased resin cost.

Next, choose what stats you want to chase. How do you know? You can use the tool to decide that. Go through and mark the substats that matter to you: maybe Elemental Mastery, maybe crit dmg, maybe CRIT Rate. For each new stat you target, there’s a one-in-four chance of getting one of these four initial stats on a new item. Double that number if two of your starting substats is also targets. (That is a fact most player ignore.) Instead of guessing, they hope. That means wasting resin trying to upgrade a piece that didn’t get good early rolls. With binomial probability math, you know when to stop upgrading.

There’s also Crit value. By default, the formula is crit dmg + (CRIT Rate * 2). It result in one number you can easily compare. Something with high crit dmg value may appear impressive, but the lack of a high CRIT Rate can hurt damage output. Fortunately, the calculator will convert that for you. It’ll display the current crit value as well as its potential improvement. That way, you can filter out the noise in your inventory and rely on this score to compare pieces, despite their different than stat spreads.

The tool also includes reference tables. These breakdowns of each tier for rolls have a number value. So there’s a min and a max roll on everything. Tiers run from 70% all the way up to 100%. A max roll on crit dmg is 7.8% and on CRIT Rate is 3.9%. Knowing what these look like help you know how much it varies. And when you see that small change in those numbers, you’ll realize they makes a big difference in an item being good or bad. These benchmarks help you not settle for mediocre.

To farm artifacts take patience and precision. It’s a game of random number generation that is out of your hands. What is in your hands is your reaction to the RNG. When you make decisions based off data, you no longer gamble away your resources. After you plug your substats into the calculator, it does the math for you. You don’t have to guess at probabilities anymre. You still must spend time upgrading items. But now you know which ones is worthy of your time. And that transforms the grind into a strategy.

You should of used this sooner.
