1) Hard Drive Issues

Your hard drive can have a direct role to play in this error, but luckily it is very easy to get rid of. To do so, simply open up the command prompt software. Once the command prompt popup appears, type in “chkdsk /f” and hit enter to begin the scan.
Once completed, the scan will allow the system to identify issues with the HDD if there are any and will also allow it to fix them. Simply run the game this issue was present in after conducting the scan to see if it still occurs.
2) Update Graphics Drivers
While the first one was a reason and solution related to hardware, this next one is related more to software. This refers specifically to the drivers players have installed for their graphics card. The first thing to do is finding out if there even is a need for an update.
This can easily be done by going to the official site of whichever brand’s GPU users own and checking for new driver updates for specific GPUs. If there is a new update available for the graphic card you own, download and install it. Now launch the game again and this issue will no longer occur from now on.
3) Download A Missing File
A specific file missing from the system is yet another highly common reason for this error message. This specific file we’re referring to is the MSVCR80.DLL. file. If missing our outdated, this can single-handedly be responsible for a number of different problems with games including this one.
Luckily, it’s very easy for anyone to download the latest versions of this file off the internet as long as they have a browser. Simply use your computer’s browser to search for this file and download the latest version of it associated with the game the error is causing to crash. Once downloaded, run said game again and the issue will be resolved.
