| Average | 0 | Neutral | Neutral |
| Positive | +3 | Small gain | Softens |

When you play a few matches in Valorant and get a win only for that victory to be wiped out because you lost the next one, and your ranking doesn’t budge all that much, you’re frustrated. Why? It feels unfairer but what’s really happening is some mathematical voodoo doing its job.
The ranked system isn’t just keeping score of Ws and Ls. Instead, it’s trying to find your actualy skill level, accounting for who you’re playing with and against, and how well or poorly you perform in each match. This is called “hidden MMR,” an invisible number that underpins everything that happen in games.
What is Hidden MMR?
And once you know about it, it will completely alter how you think about any given match. The problem is, most people only look at the rank badge they see in-game. They notice it says something like Gold 2 and think, “Okay, thats my highest tier.”
It doesn’t work like that. Your true place in the ranking system are determined by another number, one that you never see. That score control every aspect of matchmaking quality.
