Fixing Fallout 76 Rank Up Not Working:
- Checking Rank Progress
The rank progress for your rank should be visible on the screen. Simply press RB or R1 on Xbox One, RT or R2 on Playstation 4, or F12 on PC to bring up the Stats menu.
Scroll over to Rank Progress and you will see your current level of progress towards next rank. If this number is anything other than 100%, it means that you have more levels of progression until you are eligible for next rank.
- Checking If There Are Server Issues
Many players are reporting that ranking up is not working for them. In order to check if there are server issues, you can try playing on a different platform or wait for Bethesda’s response.
If you have checked these things and still have no luck, it may be time to contact customer service. However, it may also be possible that your account has been banned due to tampering.
One Reddit user reported that their account was banned because they had hacked into someone else’s console and started playing as them.
Even though this seems unlikely, it would explain why some people are being able to rank up while others cannot.
Another player explained that he used another person’s Xbox Live profile during the beta but since then changed his Xbox Live ID.
It could be that his new ID got flagged and blocked by Microsoft which would result in him being unable to rank up.
- Resetting Your Rank Progress
If you’re rank progress has stopped, try resetting your rank progress by following these steps:
- Log into your Xbox One or PlayStation 4 account (you’ll need to have an Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus subscription)
- Select My Games & Apps from the dashboard
- Find Fallout 76
- Select Quit Game
- Log back into Fallout 76
- Your rank should now be updated
- Changing Servers
If you’re experiencing this issue, you may have fallen victim to a high population server. In order to get around this, simply change your server by following these steps:
- Log out of your account
- Go back into game
- Select Change Servers
- Search for an alternative server that is currently less populated
- Select your new server
- Login to your account
- Enjoy!
- Changing Characters
If you are unable to rank up when you log into Fallout 76, try changing your character. If you have already leveled-up every other available character, try signing out of your game and logging back in with a new one.
This has been known to work for some players that were unable to rank up. Other players might experience an error message stating that Fallout 76 isn’t responding or another similar message. In this case, try restarting your console or computer and trying again.
- Unlock All Perks At A Workbench Or Reloading An Old Save File
If you’ve been playing for a while, you may have noticed that your rank isn’t increasing after you complete quests.
This is because of an annoying bug in Fallout 76 where your perks can get reset. The most common way this happens is when you use a workbench or reload an old save file, but it can also happen if your rank was maxed out before updating.
- Locate all of your workbenches and scrap them by right clicking on them.
- Go into your menu and back out so that any changes are saved then go to each of the workshops again.
- If they’re still there, scrap them again.
- You should now be able to increase in rank!
