Diablo 3 Cooldown Calculator for CDR Builds

⏱ Diablo 3 Cooldown Calculator

Stack sheet CDR, Gogok, Captain Crimson, Obsidian Ring resets, and skill durations to plan smoother uptime windows.

Model note: Fixed cooldown reduction sources are multiplied together. Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac is modeled afterward as effective one-second reset ticks while you are spending resources.
📋Named Build Presets
Cooldown Inputs
Preset loaded: Akkhan Akarat Champion checks a long 90 second cooldown with Crimson, Gogok, and steady Obsidian spending.
Akarat's Champion commonly wants permanent or near-permanent uptime.
Use the skill tooltip base cooldown before reduction.
Enter your displayed fixed CDR from gear, paragon, diamond, weapons, and passives.
At rank 25, Gogok grants 1% CDR per active stack.
The 3-piece damage bonus is estimated from final fixed CDR.
Use only procs that realistically target the skill during resource spending.
Enter the active duration from rune, set, item, or expected buff window.
Used to estimate casts, average downtime, and reset value over a pull.

💡Practical Tips
Tip: Do not add CDR percentages together by hand. A 50% sheet CDR build with 15 Gogok stacks and Captain Crimson is 66% fixed CDR, not 85%, because each source reduces the remaining cooldown.
Tip: Obsidian Ring only helps while resource-spending attacks are landing and while the chosen cooldown can receive resets. Lower the proc value if other skills are frequently on cooldown.

Cooldown reduction determine how quickly a cooldown skill becomes available for use. Cooldown reduction is important because it determines how players position themselves and how they spend there resources. Cooldown reduction also determine how many risk the players take during the game.

A shorter cooldown period will allow the players to use the skill more frequent. However, a longer cooldown period will require the players to wait for a longer period of time before use that skill again. This calculator use a mathematical result based off several different inputs.

How Cooldown Reduction Works

These input include the player’s gear, the choice for the gems, and the set bonus. The sheet cooldown reduction from the gear will form the foundation of the calculation. However, sheet cooldown reduction do not work in isolation.

Gogok gems will provide additional cooldown reduction. However, the additional cooldown reduction from the Gogok gems will only last while the buff from the Gogok gems are active. Captain Crimson set bonus will also provide additional cooldown reduction.

The Captain Crimson set bonus will provide a flat 20 percent cooldown reduction when the two piece bonus from the set is active. All forms of cooldown reduction will multiply rather than add up to provide the player with the total cooldown reduction percentage for the skill. The Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac is a different type of cooldown reduction.

The Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac will provide an one-second reset to the cooldown of the skill. The one-second cooldown reset will occur whenever the player spend their resources and the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac proc. However, the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac will only be valuable when the skill that the player is attempting to use is the one targeted by the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac.

If the player is not spending resource, the cooldown will not provide any additional cooldown reset to the skill. Furthermore, if the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac is targeting the wrong skill, it will not provide any benefit to the skill that the player desire to use. Therefore, the effective proc per second must be entered into the calculator, and that number should reflect how many time the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac will target the skill that the player would like it to target.

Cooldown reduction use another important factor: the duration of the game’s skill. The skill’s duration will determine how long the effect of that specific skill will remain in effect. A skill with a long duration but a short cooldown will feel like the skill is in effect permanent.

In contrast, a skill with a short duration and a longer cooldown will require more reset to continue to use that skill in gameplay. The calculator will compare the cooldown reduction’s final cycle time to the skill’s duration. This will allow the players to understand whether the cooldown will be ready before the current skill’s effect wear off.

There are many mistake that people may commit when calculating cooldown reduction. One of the most common mistake is adding all form of cooldown reduction rather than multiplying them. For instance, a player may add up the cooldown reduction from the sheet, the Gogok gems, and the Captain Crimson gear to provide a total percentage of cooldown reduction.

However, the game do not calculate cooldown reduction in this manner. Another common mistake is the underestimation of the value of the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac. The Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac will only be valuable in specific scenario that are based on the player spending resources and using the right skill.

The reference table on the page will provide the player with information about the base cooldown for the skills and the duration of those skill. Furthermore, the reference tables will show how often the cooldown should “proc” for the best player experience. These table are an aid to the player in narrowing the player’s guess about the cooldown reduction percentage.

However, they will not replace the player’s testing of the gear in the game. This calculator will provide a trade off between what the player put into their gear and what the gear will provide to the player in terms of cooldown reduction. For some build, gear and Gogok gems will provide permanent cooldowns.

For others, set bonus and the Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac may be essential to achieve the same result. Furthermore, knowing which category the skill fall into allows the player to make a decision about whether to seek more cooldown reduction or to accept the current cooldown reduction as sufficient for there playstyle.
