Gaige is a character class in the video game Borderlands 2, and Gaige is known as an Mechromancer. To play Gaige effective, there is three skill tree that you must manage. These skill trees is named Best Friends Forever, Little Big Trouble, and Ordered Chaos.
Each of these provide benefits to the character, but also requires the player to make trade-offs when choosing how to allocate the 75 skill point that belong to Gaige. The Ordered Chaos skill tree introduce the player to a mechanic called Anarchy. The Anarchy mechanic increase the gun damage of the character, but it also decrease the accuracy of the gun.
Using Gaige’s Three Skill Trees
For every stack of Anarchy that is accumulate, the gun damage increases by 1.75%, but the accuracy of the gun decrease by 1.75%. At 250 stack of Anarchy, the player will have high damage but will struggle with accuracy with enemies at a distance. Using shotguns will help to even out the accuracy loss of the gun, but the player should avoid using sniper rifle, as they will require a great degree of accuracy.
The Best Friends Forever skill tree provide buffs to the characters robot companion named Deathtrap. Additionally, the player can reduce the cooldown of Deathtrap by investing skill points into this tree. Should the player not invest in the Best Friends Forever skill tree, the player will have less access to Deathtrap.
With less access to Deathtrap, the player will be more vulnerable to attack from the enemies in combat. Additionally, if the player choose to invest in this skill tree, it will provide safety for the player through revive mechanics for Deathtrap. The Little Big Trouble skill tree focus on dealing elemental damage with the character’s attacks.
Additionally, the Little Big Trouble skill tree also focus on dealing shock damage to the enemies that the player fight. This skill tree allow you to create shock damage over time effects between enemies. Submachine guns will allow you to activate these shock effect more frequently.
However, using the Little Big Trouble skill tree will make Gaige more fragile so you must keep Gaige at a distance from enemies that use melee attack. There is a few different playstyle within the game based off the allocation of skill points into each of these skill tree. If you want to defeat the game boss quickly, you should focus on the Ordered Chaos skill tree to increase your Anarchy damage.
If you want to control the enemies, you should focus on the Little Big Trouble skill tree to increase your shock damage. The difficulty of the game will affect how many skill point you must invest into defensive skill. Skills like shield can help your defense and there are class mod that will increase the effectiveness of each of these skill tree.
A common mistake with this class is focusing entirely on increasing the Anarchy stack while ignoring your accuracy. If you dont have enough accuracy, your damage will be lower due to missing your shot at your enemies. It is also a mistake to ignore the Best Friends Forever skill tree as Deathtrap is necessary for your survival in combat situation.
A more balanced approach to skill tree might be better then focusing entirely on one playstyle. Gear will play a major role in your effectiveness in the game and how your skill tree will function. For instance, using a Bee shield will increase your damage output.
Certain class mod can increase the scaling of your primary skill tree. Relics will play into your cooldowns for skill like Deathtrap. Your skill point and gear selection both impact your performance in the game so ensure that you plan both according to the mechanics of the Gaige class.
