Tip: If you cannot afford two capstones, lock one capstone tree first and keep the second tree near 20 points for efficient damage-per-point gains.
Tip: In UVHM and OP10, survivability nodes plus reliable kill-skill uptime often produce better clear speed than raw paper damage alone.

In Borderlands 2, reaching level 80 mean that the player will have to make a decision as to whether they will place the skill point into a capstone skill or a survival skill. Skill point placement is important for the characters performance in the game; incorrectly placed skill point will cause the player to die more frequent during gameplay. Skill tree for Borderlands 2 determine the functionality of the players character.

Each Vault Hunter has three different skill tree with multiple skills within each tree. The player can unlock the skills by spend skill points within a skill tree. Each skill tree has a capstone skill that is earned after spending 26 skill points within that tree.

How to Spend Your Level 80 Skill Points

If the player does not gain enough skill points to reach a capstone skill, there character may lack a necessary power. If the player spend their skill points in too many skill tree, their character may not have enough damage or health. An even distribution of skill points to damage and survival skill tree will allow for the best survival in the games highest level.

Before the player spends there skill points, they can test the build that they wish to use. When testing the build, the player should consider there own playstyle. Players who wish to play more ranged combat may want to develop different skills then those who wish to play more melee combat with there enemies.

Additionally, the gear that the player intends to use with there character will impact the type of skills that is built. Finally, the player should consider how often their kill skill will be active during gameplay. If the player intends to play with a team of other players, they should also consider how there skills may provide help for others within that team.

Not all characters requires the same distribution of skill points. For instance, the character Axton utilizes the Guerrilla skill tree to ensure that his turret’s uptime, but he may also utilize the Gunpowder skill tree to increase his explosive damage. However, if Axton does not gain enough skill point in one skill tree, he may struggle with his turrets not being active when needed.

Characters like Maya require a balance between her crowd control skill and healing skill. Characters like Salvador must balance his dual wielding skills with his toughness skill. Characters like Zer0 must find a balance between his sniping and melee combat skill.

Characters like Gaige must find a balance between the chaos create by the Anarchy skill with his Deathtrap skill uptime. Finally, characters like Krieg must find a balance in his fire skill uptime so that he can survive combat. A common mistake with Borderlands 2 is to ignore how difficult the game is going to be.

For instance, on the easier difficulty the player can spend more time experimenting with their skills. However, on more difficult mode, the player must be more efficient with their skill point and items. For example, difficulties like OP10 require the player to have slag, sustain and high focus stat level because the enemies has more health on these difficulty.

Thus, the player will choose the skill that are chosen for a player will depend upon the players goal within the game. The game offers skill point preset that can reduce the guesswork as to how to distribute their skill point. These skill point presets provide the player with a general idea of the skill that should be developed for the character.

However, the player can adjust these skill point preset according to there gear and playstyle. Additionally, the player can further iterate upon the skill and there distributions. A few different measure of the effectiveness of the character build.

The first is the build rating that indicates that the players skill have good synergy. Damage indices will measure the damage that the player can deal in the game, while the survivability indices will indicate the amount of effective health that the player has. Action cycle will provide insight into how often the player can use there special ability.

These reports will provide the player with an idea of the skill path that will provide the best return for there character prior to invest the fees to respec there skill. Although mathematical model of character build effectiveness may be used to guide the player in the game, there are other factor that should be considered. For instance, the player should test there character build in the proving ground to ensure that the character build works with there aim and reflexes.

Additionally, by challenging the games raid boss the player can identify the weak point of there character build because raid bosses are extremely difficult in the game and will cause the players entire team to fail if there character build is too weak. Finally, the way that a player distribute there level 80 skill point will determine the way in which there character perform for the remainder of the game.
