The player reviews for this game are extremely positive and despite the outdated graphics, players still love to play this game. If you can’t compromise on graphics then you should try using mods to pump up the graphics in your game. You can even use the Project Nevada mod to make the game more interesting. So, even though it is a very old game, it can still be a lot of fun with the help of mods.
Fallout New Vegas Mod Configuration Menu Error
A lot of players have been complaining about the mod configuration menu recently. As soon as they try to load the configuration menu, an error pops up and the mod won’t work. If you’re having similar problems then try these steps.
- Install HUD
There are a few things that need to be installed along with the configuration menu. You can download the immersive and the one HUD from the Nexus page. Even though you don’t need both of these HUDs, they still improve the overall configuration options in your game.
After downloading both of these HUDs from the Nexus page, you can go to the launcher and switch to the activated mods tab from the left column. Now, from the User interfaces tab, you will have to install the mod configuration menu again. Similarly, you will have to install the immersive and One HUD from the same tab.
After installing the mods mentioned above, you can just access the tools from the top column and apply archive invalidation. That should fix your error in-game and you will be able to use the interface in your game.
A few users also said that they had to install the Unified HUD to fix the mod configuration menu error. So, if you’re running into issues after installing both of these HUDs mentioned above then you should switch to the Unified HUD to see if that works for your Fallout New Vegas.
- Update Visual Package
Many players were able to fix this issue by going to the Microsoft store and updating the C++ Visuals on their OS. Along with updating the visual package, you will need to check the compatibility options on the mod manager.
You will have to double-check that the admin permissions are enabled for your mod manager. To check the compatibility settings, you can right-click on the mod manager executable file and then go to properties. After enabling the admin permissions, you need to launch the game again to see if your mod configuration menu is working.
It is also possible that one of your other mods is causing issues for your game. To isolate the error, we suggest that you remove all the additional mods from your PC except the HUDs and then try installing project Nevada only.
After installing the Nevada mod, you can launch the game again to see if the mod configuration menu is showing up in your game. Also, make sure that you have installed the mod configuration menu on your PC and not the “MCM Bugfix” file on your PC. To be sure you can make a thread on Nexus forums and ask other players about MCM.
- Reinstall Mod
If you’re still getting the same error in the mod configuration menu then you should try reinstalling the mod on your PC. Make sure to remove everything, including the extra mods and the HUDs from your PC.
Then you can restart your system and download these mods again from the Nexus page. It won’t take you that long to reinstall unless you have a lot of mods installed in your game. After reinstalling the mods and the HUD you can launch the game again to see if your mod configuration menu is giving you the same error.
The majority of players were able to get around this issue by giving admin privileges to their mod manager and installing HUDs from the Nexus page. So, it is likely that the same methods will work out for you too unless there is something wrong with your PC configurations.
You should also look at the firewall settings on your PC and disable any antivirus programs that you’ve installed recently. Hopefully, that will get your mod configuration menu working again but if you’re still in the same issue then we suggest that you switch to FOMM.
