The skill tree for Middle-earth: Shadow of War allow the player to determine how the player manages the games combat. The skill tree determine if the player wants to focus on stealth playstyle, wraith-based abilities, or mounted combat with enemy orcs. If the player chooses the wrong combat playstyle for the skill tree too early in the game, it can make the sieges later in the game harder for the player to win.
The skill tree is foundational for the players playstyle so the player must decide on a skill tree that match there style when playing the game. The player can choose to use the predator stealth playstyle that focuses on the kill and pulls of enemies during stealth gameplay. This stealth playstyle is beneficial for fortresses since orcs emerge from the grates during fortress infiltrations.
Pick the Right Skill Tree for Siege Battles
An alternative skill tree choice is for the player to choose the wraith burst playstyle that focuses on exploding crowd of enemies using the wraith’s wrath. This playstyle is good for open sieges but can be less effective during situations where orc captains use curse attacks on the players siege force. A player must decide between the various combat tree that offer raw damage to enemies during duels versus trees that focus on headshot pressure to kill enemies quickly.
Many players choose to ignore the damage spikes trees but can leave the player vulnerable when there is no control of the siege forces for the player. A player must manage their resources when playing so that they can have enough wrath per minute to use during siege finishers or to have enough focus to execute more ranged attack. Gear offer additional power to the players siege forces.
Using epic tier gear will increase the player’s offense and survival chances. Using legendary gear or Bright Lord gear will increase the player’s wrath speed. If the player equips four or more item of a specific gear piece, they will unlock synergies that will make the players skill point budget more efficient.
As the player increases their prestige rank for their siege forces, the gear will compound and provide even more power during online conquests. As the player explores the world, different combat difficulties is present. For example, when playing in Minas Morgul, the player must use more control to fight the enemy forces than in Nurnen, where the enemy grunt forces has less health than the captains in Minas Morgul.
The difficulty settings will impact the player’s use of their skill tree. For example, on normal difficulty, the player can focus more on dealing damage in the siege. However, on the Gravewalker difficulty, the player must focus more on surviving the sieges.
On the higher difficulties, the player should use the follower assist percentage to supplement the player’s might for executions of enemies. The skill trees for the players followers include the predator path that focuses on stealth and the beast master path that focuses on mounted combat chains. The player should attempt to leave three to five skill point unspent in case the players enemy forces use the terror debuff on the players siege leader.
There are several pre-set builds for players to use to save the player from having to think too much about their skill tree. For example, the Bright Lord Wraith Burst preset will increase the players ability to dominate sieges. Another preset, the Predator Infiltrator, will allow the player to infiltrate the fortresses quick.
However, pre-sets are not permanent so the player can adjust them according to the players level in the game and the bonus point earned from their missions. The high-level pre-sets will increase the players might and wrath so that they can maintain a focus regeneration of six or more per second. Furthermore, a good player will have unlocked at least four of the six available skill trees in the game.
A common mistake is to ignore the early game skill trees to focus on the more advanced tree later in the game. For example, the combat starter trees are very inexpensive to purchase. However, trees like wraith capstone cost thirty skill points which might starve a players hybrid skill tree.
For example, the wraith tree offers 1.22 damage but with a focus on controlling the enemy forces. The ranged skill tree focuses on headshot kills rather than duels. Using the build power score, a player can determine their S-tier score which is focused on duels.
An S-tier score mean that the players siege army is optimized for duels and can complete Nemesis duels in under ninety second. When the player reaches the endgame, they must focus on maintaining pressure and using their skill points wisely to ensure they have time to adapt to different situation during the sieges. If the player chooses the wrath-based combat skill tree, they must ensure that they have enough focus sustain because a lack of focus sustain will cause their wrath skill tree to fail during the sieges.
Overall, a players skill tree is a tool that is forged in such a way that prepares them for the sieges ahead.
