Assassin’s Creed Valhalla allow players to allocate skill points to develop their character. Players cant respecialize skill points. If players allocate skill points to the wrong area, such as putting points into raids to make them take too long or putting points into bosses to make them too challenging to defeat, players may end up frustrated as they cannot take back skill points.
Therefore, players must consider their available skill points and how they may best develop their character with their available weapon and armor. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has three main skill branches to choose from: the Bear, Raven, and Wolf. The Bear branch is for players who want to focus on using their characters strength and their dual wield weapons.
Choose the Right Skill Branch in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
This branch can enhance the player’s armor and allow them to perform attack that will break through the enemies’ shield walls. This skill branch is best for players who want to use their heavy armor for defense while fighting enemy in open fields. The Raven branch allows players to enhance their stealth skills.
Using this branch enhances skills like backstabs and evades that allow the character to sneak into fort without being spotted. This branch is beneficial for players who want to avoid detection timers. The Wolf branch improve a players ranged attacks.
This branch allows the player to improve their weak point shots at the bosses’ weak points to defeat them quick. All of these skill branches is not created equal. The branches require specific skills to work well with specific weapon.
For example, the Bear branch works best with two-handed weapon like a greatsword. On the other hand, the Raven branch works best with weapons like daggers to enhance critical hit after the stealth approach to the enemies. Skill points must be allocated appropriately to allow a player’s skills and their weapons to work in harmony; otherwise, the player will not be able to allocate their skill points efficient.
A player’s playstyle will determine the best skill branch. If a player prefers to fight with melee weapon, the best choice would be to allocate their skill points to the Bear branch. For players who want to sneak up on the enemies and eliminate them stealthily, the Raven branch is the best choice.
Players who like to use ranged weapons will benefit from allocating their skill points to the Wolf branch. Some may want to play as a hybrid using all three branch. However, these build will not be as effective since no branch offers the special skills required to fight opponent in the arenas.
Adrenaline slot can be used to enhance a player’s heavy attack skills. Players who have only one adrenaline slot will need to wait for 12 second between using a heavy skill. Adrenaline slots that have three or four slots will allow for a better chaining of heavy skills to enhance the damage done to enemies.
The number of adrenaline slots should match with the chosen skill branch since if a player choose the Wolf branch for their weak point attacks but has low bonuses for ranged damage, their heavy skills will not be as effective in combat. Two other important features of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla are mastery points and armor weight. Mastery points can enhance the player’s stat during long fights.
For example, in the Forgotten Saga, players will have a better chance of surviving with high mastery points. Armor weight will allow the player to have more or less defense and mobility. If a player choose a heavy armor weight, they will take more damage but will survive more attack.
For players who choose light armor, they will be more mobile but will take more damage. Players can also choose their detection tolerance. If this tolerance is set to a lower percentage, the Raven branch will help players as they will be less likely to get spotted.
One of the most common mistake players will commit with their skill points is focusing on increasing their chance of landing critical hits rather than their base damage. Base damage should be prioritized since critical hits will not make as big of a difference if the base damage is too low. Some will allocate their skill points half way between the three branches.
However, players should focus on one branch to 60% before allocating any more skill point to other branches. According to the developers, players should also consider the different need of the bosses and raids since some will require the damage done with the Wolf branch while others require the Bear branch.
