The skill system within Dead Island requires careful planning since teh skill system determine how you interact with the enemies in the game. There are three skill trees within the game: the Combat tree, the Survival tree, and the Fury tree. The Combat tree increase the damage that you do with your weapons and your execution of enemies.

The Survival tree increase the health pool that you have, as well as the rate at which your health replenishes. Lastly, the Fury tree increases the number of rage burst that you can have to temporarly increase your power. You earn skill point as you advance in the game.

Dead Island Skill Tree Basics

You can spend these skill points on the trees to give you access to new ability. Each tree has tier that are earned at specific stages. For example, you earn the second tier after spending five skill points, and the third tier after spending ten skill points.

The early stage provide general ability for heroes, while the later skills provide specialized ability to extend the role of heroes in the game. The character that you play will have a significant impact on your effectiveness within the game. Each character have a specific type of affinity.

Sam B has an affinity for blunt weapon and has high health, which allow him to play the role of a tank. Xian Mei has an affinity for blade and uses her agility to apply bleed effect to the enemies. Logan has an affinity for throwing weapon and uses his stamina loops to throw his weapons.

Purna has an affinity for firearm and provides support to the other member of the team from a range. If you dont equip the weapons that match the ability of your chosen hero, your damage output will decrease by approximately ten percent. Therefore, you must ensure that your hero’s weapons match the hero’s affinity so that there damage output is as high as possible.

You must make a decision regarding what your focus is for your build. For example, if you would like to produce the effect of a frontline brawler, you want to focus on the damage and the control of your blunt weapons. Alternatively, if you focus on critical burst damage using blade, you will gain high chance of landing critical hit on your enemies.

If you want to focus on your bleed ability, you will wear down the boss in your game. If you want to maintain distance from enemy, you can focus on your throwing weapon. Additionally, if you want to survive higher difficulty in the game, you can focus on your health increase through the Survival tree.

Each difficulty in the game change the damage that the enemies will deal to you. On normal difficulty, you can make mistakes, but on Hard difficulty, you will have to invest in your Survival tree so that your health can withstand the amount of damage that the enemies will do on Hard difficulty. Stamina is an important resource for your hero within the game.

The stamina that you have determine how many weapon swing or how many weapon throw you can perform within the game. If you do not have enough stamina, you will not be able to attack the enemy in your game. One way to gain stamina is through the Survival tree.

If you increase your stamina replenishment rate, you will be able to perform more attack within the game to eliminate the enemies more quick. Additionally, if you use a medkit, you can replenish your health. You can also use co-op play to supplement your health bar.

One way to make decision within your skill tree is through the use of skill preset. Presets allow you to follow a specific build for your hero so that you wont have to make decision regarding which skill to invest your point into. You can make presets for the early game and for the higher difficulty within the game.

Additionally, you can test each of these skill and then further tweak the preset for your hero to match your playstyle. For instance, if you would like to use rage mode more in your game, you can add more skill point to the Fury tree. Alternatively, if you would like to do more damage with your weapon, you can add more skill point to the Combat tree.

A common mistake with the skill tree system within Dead Island is to spread your skill point too thin between the trees. When you begin the game, you should of not spread your skill point too thin between the different tree. Instead, you should focus on one tree to earn your skill point to the higher tier.

For example, you can focus on the Combat tree so that your damage output increase, or you can focus on the Survival tree so that your health increase to help you survive into higher difficulty. When you reach the fifth tier for any given tree, you will recieve spike in the amount of defense that you have for your character. This is important for surviving into the endgame.

Additionally, planning your skill ensure that you will be able to fight the enemy that you encounter in your game.
