Skill tree planning is used by players looking to improve there performance in Outriders. Skill tree planning is necessary to balance power, skill rotations, and defensive capability in the game. Many players may focus on there power metrics to improve damage output.
However, players should also consider skill rotations and the status effects that follow those rotations in skill tree planning. Effective skill trees offer a player high damage multiplier and sustained output throughout the entire elite encounter. Without sustained output from a players skill tree, they will be exposed to enemies damage and cant survive the encounter.
How to Plan Your Skill Tree in Outriders
Planning for a players interactions with the enemies in Outriders will differ with the different skill tree that players can select. For instance, the Trickster Assassin skill tree focus on increasing the firepower of a players weapon critical hit. However, armor pierce is also required from this skill tree to damage the elite enemies that appear in Outriders.
The damage output from this skill tree will not be effective without sufficient armor pierce. An alternative to the Trickster Assassin is the Reaver skill tree that focus on sustaining anomalies and maintaining the players shield while in combat with enemies. This skill tree trades some of its damage output for leeching ability that allow the player to survive longer in the game’s enemies.
These different skill trees are important for Challenge Tier 15 due to the increased damage pressure on players from an enemies. Status uptime is another important aspect of combat with enemies in Outriders. Status uptime refers to the length of time that status effects such as burn, bleed, toxic, ash, freeze, or vulnerability remain active on enemies.
Using a skill tree that increase the cooldown of a players skills is one strategy that a player can use if a player can maintain at least 70% status uptime on their enemies. However, if a players status uptime drops to below 50%, there damage output will significant drop. A player can increase there effectiveness with the game by pairing their chosen skill tree with specific gear packages such as the Acari or Seismic Commander gear packages that feature synergistic components that enhance the players pierce or leech output.
Defensive stats are just as important as offensive stats in Outriders. Defensive stats include the health pool, armor ratings, and resistances that are available to a player. Armor ratings help to reduce the amount of damage that a player takes from physical attacks.
Resistances reduce the damage taken from anomaly attacks. If a player focus on increasing their offensive stats, they may not have enough effective health to survive the burst damage attacks from their opponents. For example, the Devastator Warden build focus on creating defenses for their team while the Pestilence Tech relies on weapon leeching to maintain their health stat.
To farm Challenge Tier 15, a player requires a minimum of 115,000 effective health and 220,000 damage per second. A player should of an understanding of the different statistics and the trade-offs that each offer to players. For instance, high critical hits as a player will require armor pierce to damage elite enemies.
High critical hits stats may not be beneficial in areas where there are many small enemies to focus fire on. In the same fashion, cooldown stack for anomalies will require short cooldowns for the players skills to remain active in combat. If player skills have too long of cooldowns, they will not be able to effectively deal with the enemies that appear in Outriders.
Additionally, builds that focus on leeching will work well with skill trees that include heavy use of weapon. However, such builds will require that a player has some baseline armor to survive the initial damage directed at them when engaging with their enemies. Outriders includes a few preset path for skill trees such as the Seismic Bleed Devastator or the Tech Shaman.
These skill tree paths provide a good start for a player for their builds. However, players may need to tinker with the skill trees to match the players playstyle or the specific enemies that they are fighting in a particular encounter. Scores for players in Outriders are calculated using their damage per second, effective health, and skill cycle cadence.
If a player tune their skill tree to match the rhythm of their enemies, they can ensure that their skills continuously cycle and their enemies have active status effect.
