Mastery matters most when the recipe is long, the workshop is crowded, or the target batch needs extra bonus yield.
Lost Ark, or LOA, is a 2019 MMO action role-playing game co-developed by Tripod Studio and Smilegate. The game appeared in South Korea in December 2019 and Amazon Games issued it in Europe, North America and South America in February 2022. One of the main features is crafting that helps players progress in their adventure across the world
In Lost Ark you craft items like weapons, consumables, materials for improvements, housing bits and many others. Unlike other games, players do not invest points in crafting skills. NPC Craftsmen do that in various places of the map.
How Crafting Works in Lost Ark
Six Trade Skills bind to the crafting system: Foraging, Logging, Mining, Hunting, Fishing and Excavating. Each of them has its own growth tree, where experience grows and new skills unlock. Logging and mining best help to gather resources for the Stronghold, but all skills are usefull for delivering materials to artisans, that prepare different items after you talk with them.
Stronghold matters for crafting: you can arrange it, improve it and use it to produce consumables and utilities, that help during missions. Crafting gives experience to the Stronghold, maybe even mass success, hence always value to craft when it is possible. Own collection of materials adds more profit than simply buying.
Good sample is healing potions, that you prepare at level 1 of Crafting Workshop. During journeys players pick flowers, and after right research those flowers serve for 30% cures. Otherwise you should pay gold for them, so self-crafting spares money.
Some recipes require higher workshop levels and prior research.
Crafting can give profit: with a bit of gold you prepare potions, sell them and reinvest. Gathering tools have useful effects. Seriously escape attacks of nearby enemies during picking of plants or mining of ores, especially in platinum countryside, where time is precious.
Moreover, crafting level does not need to start from zero for every player.
Although Lost Ark uses a free-to-play model, collected resources do not cause too much space. Online calculators and sheets help to estimate the most profitable crafts. According to time markets balance themselves, and crafting a bit profits.
