⚠ Armor Durability Decay: As armor durability drops below 25%, even low-pen ammo can penetrate. Always account for durability in real raids.
The mechanics of tarkov operate deeply. One must track hydration, energy, blood loss, fractures, concussion, tremors. And the list goes on.
The fight seems truly severe thanks to the realism in the shots. Weapons act like this as one expects, with sprays of blood here, where it matters, and wounds truly limit you. Every body part can bleed, every bone can break, and everything that does, that each hit feel, as if you dance with death.
How Damage and Gear Work in Tarkov
You prepare, you move through the map, escaping PMCs and Scavs, and only the last exit decides, do your hardly got loot arrives home or disappear for always.
damage in tarkov not only hits your character. It attacks specific body parts, where the bullets arrive. Here the whole point.
Rounds can cross one region, but here it becomes complex: bullets pass through surfaces and bodies too. Like this one single shot can destroy several parts at once. Assume, that you receive 50 damage rounds in the arm, when it has 60 HP, that arm will fall to 10.
And what, if the arm has only 60 HP and you recieve 70 damage rounds instead? Those extra damages tie directly to that, what happens, when body-part becomes fully black.
PMC-characters have around 400 until 450 points of health total, spread through the body. 7.62 x54R LPS Gzh-round causes 74 damage. The chest?
It has 80 points of health. In theory, one shot should not kill you, unless the chest already suffered prior hit. But ammo like Warmags?
It does 88 damage. If it hits week place, for example the shoulder, you find you before the death screen more quickly, than you can react.
Even so armour changes everything. Damage to flesh and damage to armour follows fully different rules. Matters the class of armour, from what it consists, do the bullet can pass it and what percentage of damage the bullet itself can hand over to the armour.
Some armours are simply tough. Already happened cases, that some received 30 hits of M995-ammo, truly superior; and the armour absorbed more than 2380 damages fully, while only 91 reached the body. It is mad.
You can hit some with 486 damages and they simply go. Even 782 damages directed to one person sometimes do not guarantee death.
Helmets add extra trouble. Ricochets depend on the angle, from that you shot, on the ricochet-rating of the helmet and on both the penetration of the bullet and ricochet-values. Level-2 facemask?
It will bounce rounds of Mosin and will let pass only 2 damages. Distance plays role also. At 100 metres, damage drops so, that round loses 32 from his push only because of distance and penetration.
So 308-rounds seem the only good choice for long distance.
Gear in tarkov is not only decoration. It is pure survival. The armour, that you choose, and the ammo, that you load, decide directly, whether you live or die.
Every type of ammo trades damage against penetration, what makes the pick of ammo probably your most important gear decision. Online calculators of damage show real state of ammo, values of armour and how manytimes needed to kill targets, useful for planning, what loadout truly works.
