The wireless PS5 Controller DualSense ranks between the most notable parts of the PlayStation 5. Sony gave it the name “DualSense” what marks a change from simple double joystick and button pressing to deeper focus on haptic feedback and immersive experience. It stands out especially because of two main features: the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
Those adaptive triggers provide resistance, that matches with the actions in the game, so that pulling a gun in a video game genuinely feels like using a real weapon. This experience differs a lot from that of average controllers.
PS5 DualSense Controller: What It Does and How to Use on PC
The DualSense works very well also as a PS5 Controller for computer. Its solid build, comfortable form and charging by means of USB-C all help it. To bind it to computer, use USB-cable or Bluetooth.
Computer with USB-port or Bluetooth-function works well, and one can use also store-bought Bluetooth-USB-adapter. In Steam, turn on the option “Full support for PlayStation“, so that the contoller is recognized correctly. Even so, note that: when it is bound by means of Bluetooth to computer, the haptic feedback on buttons and the adaptive resistance of triggers do not work the same as on PlayStation.
Also missing is sound from the built-in speaker. Games commonly show button icons of Xbox instead of PlayStation, what can a bit bother.
Sony designed the DualSense and other PS5 parts to work with computers, Mac and mobile devices. Updates ease the pairing of controllers with several devices at once. During usage of Mac or mobile device, one can switch the tie directly from the device itself.
But if the PS5 Controller is bound to PS5 console, then switching ties from Mac or mobile devices is not possible.
Drift in the sticks was a common problem for the usual DualSense. The joysticks ware out more quickly than one expects. The DualSense Edge offers a more premium version with swappable sticks, so a refill costs only around twenty dollars, when drift appears.
It has also back buttons, that many consider between the best on the market. It costs a lot, but one sees it widely as a worthy investment because of the high quality of build, long battery life and custom options.
The Victrix Pro BFG is another good choice. That wireless PS5 Controller has module design, four back buttons and works with PS5, PS4 and computer. There are also custom controllers from companies like SCUF, that deliver four back paddles and swappable joysticks.
Limited editions of DualSense controllers come in various themed styles, for instance one inspired by Concord with matte black base and bright orange and turquoise lines, or the Genshin Impact version, that will drop in February 2025 for eighty-eight dollars. Colors like Midnight Black and Galactic Purple helpplayers personalize their gear.
