The DualShock 4 is the main controller for the PS4, available in almost every possible color. Each PS4 console includes one in the box (and truly), it simply must be here because none manages to play without it. Good reason is, that it works well on PS4 and also on computer, what adds it value beyond only the own system of Sony.
If you keep it in the hands, you right away will feel its quality, it has right weight, that makes it solid. Inside are accelerometer and gyroscope, that care about detection of move, tilt and spin. The touchpad and the Share button opened new ways for social functions and shared play.
Guide to the DualShock 4 Controller
On the other hand, most games almost do not use the touchpad. Casual games could well use it, but for many others it simply lacks.
The DualShock 4 passed through several updates. The first version had strong black buttons and touchpad, that did not allow the light of the glow show from below. Later Sony improved that in newer versions, that now has higher quality of build, with the light visible through the surface of the touchpad.
When appeared the Slim and Pro models, they introduced wired USB-link besides Bluetooth, what reduced the delay during wired use.
Hunt new DualShock 4 today? Surprisingly, it is not easy task. The availability changes a lot according too the store.
Sony almost stopped the production, although sometimes they release small lots. Finding stock of Sony DS4 in good price not always works. GameStop sells used and refurbished, if you want that direction and do not care about cheap money.
On eBay you can search fresh, factory sealed controllers. They cost around 48 dollars each.
Budget and fake PS4 controllers? They commonly fail through the whole range. I did not manage to find truly decent cheap option.
Copycat copies usually have clear input-delays and absence of proper tuning for the dead zone, that Sony built in. They feel less quality, as if done rushed. I noticed, that copycat controllers commonly stop to charge after only half of year.
Fakes from Amazon can seem solid at first, but quickly fall apart.
Connect DualShock 4 to your computer is simple… By means of Bluetooth or USB, as you prefer. Steam makes it easy: install the program, detect the controller, turn on PS4-support andeverything works perfectly.
Press at same time the PS and Share buttons, and it will enter in pairing mode. Some games detect it well, but lack Xbox-buttons, what can confuse. The program DS4Windows fixes that, making that games treat it as Xbox-controller and reduces compatibility-problems.
If you want something with extra special features, usual options like the SCUF Infinity4PS Pro give to pro players more tools for use.
