Metro 2033 is a single player game of survival horror, created by 4A Games and released by THQ. The game appeared in 2010. Its plot is based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky with the same title.
That book the Russian writer first released in 2002 as post-apocalyptic fiction. Later came two sequels: Metro 2034 and Metro 2035.
About Metro 2033
In the destroyed underground of post-apocalyptic Moscow happens the action. Year 2013 brought world end by means of a disastrous event that erased almost all life. Some folks ran into the depths of the Moscow metro, and civilization fell into a new Dark Age.
Now is the year 2033. A full generation grew underground.
In the sealed stations of Metro city, folks fight for life, against each other and against mutated monsters that lurk outside. The history deals about rugged underground life, where the human future depends on the player. Young guy Artyom must abandon his home base for teh first time.
He undertakes a risky way to the famous Polis, to ask for support against a fresh unclear danger.
Many estimate the game as the best from the three Metro games. It creates tension, atmosphere and suspense. The title shows post-apocalyptic Moscow underground by means of good world building and a hero journey story.
Bullets operate as currency, oxygen lacks, and every darkness seems sinister. Attention to your gas mask stays a constant issue through the whole experience.
Metro 2033 Redux forms the highlight. It goes beyond a simple HD port. 2033 was rebuilt using the much improved engine of Last Light, together with new game rules for the best version.
Weapons and areas from Metro: Last Light arrive in the Redux version of 2033, which makes everything seem like a whole. Redux surpasses the original graphics. The old 2033 had a separate visual style, that some can hardly match even with depressing Redux settings.
Compared to other titles, Metro seems more direct. There are no side tasks, and no leveling of skills. Stealth play can sometimes be rough.
More difficult levels return tension, which gives urgency to the game. Community mods help to improve images or recover some elements. Metro 2033 Redux offers a green, premium survival horror.
To celebrate the fifteen year anniversary of the series, Redux was given for free on Steam, Xbox and GOG during a limited 48-hour time. The game is also available onPlayStation 4 and Nintendo consoles.
