Note: This article is based on real community and gaming advice about DPS in Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 happens twenty-five years after the nuclear disaster. Players exit from shelters in destroyed United States and explore broad wasteland. In that multiplayer game it matters a lot to find the best damage per second (DPS).
Best DPS Builds and Weapons in Fallout 76
Choices of builds and weapons seriously affect how quickly enemies die.
Builds with commando and heavy guns commonly reach the fastest and highest DPS overall. Based on automatic guns, such a build can give high fire rate and damage, that grows to crazy levels by means of the legendary rule Fierce and the perk Focused Fire. This perk strengthens the damage in every shot during fight.
Such a build works well for solo game, but it is useful fully also in teams as DPS option.
Builds with VATS criticals are very strong and reach the highest DPS in the game. The maximum possible DPS comes from the AA2525 enclave plasma flamer, but it uses action points really fast so you must spam canned coffee to stay up. The second place belongs to the Q2525 railway gun, that is much eaiser to use than the enclave flamer.
Quad railway gun with faster fire rate or 50 percent critical damage beats most weapons according to DPS.
The Pip-Boy gives only average damage at his best. Armour does not change the damage of weapons, unless talking about melee. The highest DPS, that is not legacy, hacked or cheated, probably comes from a quad useful railway gun with 50 critical damage.
For heavy weapons the Gauss minigun fires so quickly, that you must carry tons of ammo. Its DPS is worth the effort for those who can control it. The Gatling-plasma is another favorite four raids, although it received weakening in the last update.
If you stack all perks for heavy guns, those weapons can become among the best in the game.
The best DPS builds usually stack as many bonuses as possible. Here are some of them: Bullet Storm, Momentum, weak point damage, perks for limb damages, criticals, stealth attacks, Follow Through and Take One for the Team. Also perks like Number Calculator and Scientific Aid, together with four-star armours and weapons.
Two-shot explosive weapons can destroy everything without big investment in builds. TSE handmade gun reaches more than 300 damage per shot, even without investment in rifle or explosive specialty. The Auto Axe gives high DPS for lovers of melee combat.
Bloodied two-handed melee weapon can deal massive damage, with stealth attacks reaching around 10 thousand damage on a bloodied fiery axe. Hunting guns shoot eight bullets, and every pellet does one-eighth of the listed pip-damage. All bows are silent andbenefit from the perk Mister Sandman.
