In 2014 Assetto Corsa launched, and it immediately stuck with driving fans everywhere in the world. That happened no accidentally. The game was built with a physics engine, that then seemed revolutionary, cars created with incredible accuracy, circuits scanned by laser and a modding community, that never stopped creating.
Truly, you receive a driving simulation, that takes the experience seriously, stressing attention instead of only arcade-style fun. The simulation of physics and simulation of tyres are what actually sets it apart from the other games.
Assetto Corsa: A Real Driving Game
The list of cars truly impresses. It carries more than 90 models from brands like Ferrari, Lotus, McLaren, Pagani, Alfa Romeo, Toyota, Maserati, BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Shelby. Each of them is done with almost fanatical detail.
Most cleverly it manages to copy the behaviour and feel of every car according to actual data from makers and telemetry; not simply guesses. You feel that dfference already when you sit behind the steering wheel.
The tracks matter likewise a lot as the cars themselves. Thanks to laser scan technology, the game offers 24 variants of 15 famous circuits, all built with total loyalty. Between them are classics like Silverstone, Nordschleife, Imola, Monza, Barcelona, Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps and Brands Hatch.
A recent update added Laguna Seca (also scanned by laser) together with seven new cars, between them the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
The simulation involves itself with solo campaigns as with multiplayer driving. The cars are copied with surprising loyalty, and the game uses telemetry together with simulation of hybrid systems and energy recovery. Actually, everything turns around pure realism in the driving, each detail receives exact treatment.
Modding is the area, wear the community shines most strongly. You find programs, cars, skins, sounds, themes and tracks, all created by fans. To install mod trips needs a bit of patience, and the process is not the easiest, but it entirely is possible.
Just copy the files in the right folder of the game. Moreover, a Japanese add-on pack exists, that introduced seven cars from the domestic Japanese market, all chosen by the community itself.
On computer, that game truly shines in its own world. If you play on console, even so, Assetto Corsa Competizione is the better choice. It is the official game of the GT World Championship and captures the real atmosphere of GT3 driving.
It shows official drivers, teams, cars and circuits, all built with accuracy, that truly surprises.
Assetto Corsa ranks between the best driving simulation games ever done. It gives truly fun and safe experience, even if it does not risk to go much further than the basic core. The new Assetto Corsa EVO, that will receive early access January 16th 2025, will furthermore improve the realism andmainstream features, redefining the skills of one from the most liked multiplatform driving simulations.
